An ordinary day at a Walmart store in Indianapolis took a horrifying turn when Tikerra Hicks, an employee, was brutally assaulted by a group of women on August 29th. The incident, which occurred at the Walmart location on Keystone Avenue, is currently under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, with no arrests made as of yet. A distressing video of the attack, shared by a social media user named Kind Butler, quickly went viral online, capturing the shocking assault.

The video footage, lasting over four minutes, shows Hicks being viciously attacked by multiple women, leaving her on the ground as they unleash a barrage of kicks and punches while pulling her hair. Amidst the chaos, a man can also be seen joining in on the assault before being restrained by onlookers attempting to intervene. The alarming clip also captures bystanders urging for an end to the violence, with one person heard saying, “No fighting at Walmart.”
Despite the efforts of some Walmart employees to break up the altercation, Hicks pursued her attackers after the initial confrontation, leading to a second round of violence. The tension eventually subsided, with an employee unsuccessfully trying to discourage shoppers from filming the aftermath. Eventually, the group of women believed to be involved in the assault, including one reportedly holding a baby, hastily fled the scene, as documented by Butler.
In an interview with FOX59, Butler described the assailants as a family, highlighting that the altercation erupted suddenly upon encountering Hicks. Hicks later recounted feeling blindsided by the assault, explaining that she was targeted following allegations related to a friend of hers. Although Hicks was mentioned in a police report regarding the incident from the Beech Grove Police Department, she denied any involvement in the alleged matter and expressed surprise at being suspended from work in the aftermath.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement acknowledging the ongoing investigation into the verbal argument and physical altercation, assuring that no arrests have been made thus far. Walmart responded to the disturbing incident, condemning the violence and reaffirming cooperation with law enforcement. Despite inquiries, the Walmart location’s management and the Beech Grove Police Department refrained from providing further comments on the matter.
Incidents of violence in public spaces like grocery stores evoke concerns about safety and the need for swift action to address such incidents and ensure the well-being of employees and customers. The impact of such incidents on the individuals involved and the broader community underscores the importance of proactive measures to prevent and address violence in public settings. As investigations continue into the assault on Tikerra Hicks, authorities and stakeholders must work together to uphold safety and security in shared spaces.
