Doctor Charged in Matthew Perry’s Death to Plead Guilty to Distributing Ketamine

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, one of the physicians facing charges in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry, has agreed to plead guilty to distributing ketamine to the late actor. Plasencia, also known as Dr. P., will plead guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine, as per a plea agreement reported by PEOPLE.
Initially facing seven counts of ketamine distribution and two counts of altering documents, Plasencia is now set to enter his guilty plea in the upcoming weeks. The plea agreement carries a maximum prison sentence of 40 years. Alongside four other individuals, Plasencia was charged last year in relation to Perry’s passing.
Matthew Perry, widely known for his role in “Friends,” tragically passed away on October 28, 2023, due to an accidental drug overdose. The autopsy revealed that ketamine, among other factors, contributed to his death. Following Perry’s demise, an investigation was launched by the Los Angeles Police Department to determine how the actor acquired the substance.
Dr. Plasencia’s involvement in distributing ketamine to Perry came to light during the investigation. The case also involved Jasveen Sangha, dubbed “The Ketamine Queen,” who faced multiple charges including conspiracy to distribute ketamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. While Plasencia and others entered guilty pleas in August 2024, Sangha opted to go to trial and pleaded not guilty.
The Department of Justice highlighted that the defendants exploited Perry for financial gain and were fully aware of the potential harm their actions could inflict on his health. Text message evidence indicated a callous disregard for the consequences of their drug dealings on the late actor.
