Keegan-Michael Key has recently opened up about a potential collaboration with his longtime friend and collaborator Jordan Peele, specifically regarding the creation of a horror film. The two entertainers, who gained prominence through their popular sketch show “Key & Peele,” have been discussing the idea of a horror project for some time, igniting excitement among fans.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Key, now 55, revealed his evolving appreciation for the horror genre, crediting Peele for changing his perspective on it. The two last collaborated on the 2022 animated film “Wendell & Wild,” where they voiced a pair of mischievous demon brothers. Key expressed enthusiasm for a horror project with Peele, noting their conversations about the concept, albeit not on a constant basis.
“We talk about it whenever we get the chance,” Key explained, indicating that the project would need to resonate with both creatives. He emphasised the importance of not simply reuniting for the sake of nostalgia but instead ensuring that the project aligns with their artistic visions.

Voicing the character of a unicorn mascot, Key found the experience enjoyable and is keen to delve deeper into the genre. He described “Buddy” as a reflection of how innovative horror is currently thriving, stating, “Horror is the genre that I think is doing quite a lot of original stuff right now.”
The film “Buddy” centres around a forgotten children’s television show, revolving around a character named Buddy, whose attempts to spread joy take a dark turn when one child rebels against the norms.
