At 44, the star expressed that joining this particular franchise had been a long-standing ambition of hers.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, K. Michelle shared that her desire to join RHOA was firmly rooted in her admiration for the show’s culture and the authenticity of its cast members. She remarked, “When it came to me being on Love & Hip Hop, that was about culture.” Reflecting on her observations, she noted, “I watched how the ladies of Real Housewives of Atlanta were able to expand their brands and do endorsements without being judged for it.”
An interesting element of her journey is how she actively manifested her involvement with the show. Five years prior, she had sent a message to executive producer Andy Cohen, stating, “I will be on Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Remarkably, despite not receiving a response, K. Michelle remained resolute in her intentions, believing that her dreams would eventually materialise.
The transition into the RHOA cast brought with it a mix of anticipation and apprehension. K. Michelle acknowledged the presence of “big personalities” within the ensemble, and anticipated the challenges that could arise from differing characters. “I knew that when you have big personalities, everybody’s not going to get along,” she said.
