Marieangela King has filed a request to dismiss her recent divorce proceedings from musician Elijah Blue Allman, after originally seeking to end their marriage in April 2025. The motion for dismissal was submitted to the Superior Court of Los Angeles on June 2, and comes just over a year after King first cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation.

In a statement to PEOPLE magazine earlier this month, King, 38, expressed her desire to remain married to Allman, who is the son of legendary singer Cher. The couple originally tied the knot in December 2013, and King reflected fondly on their shared history, calling it a “beautiful 13-year journey” filled with cherished memories. She added, “I know we’ll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart.”

The initial divorce filing had reportedly been a difficult decision for King. In an interview in October 2025, she conveyed that divorce was not her preferred outcome, saying, “It’s not what I want. That day I filed for divorce; there was no other option.” Emphasising her focus on personal wellbeing, King remarked, “I have got to just focus on myself and on God and on things that are productive. I’m always there for Elijah.”
In January 2025, Allman, 49, had also found himself in a challenging financial position. In light of his mother’s financial support allegedly being cut off, he recently sought to have his spousal support payments to King reduced. In legal documents, he indicated that, with the loss of this support, his income significantly diminished, leaving him with about £5,200 after taxes from his father’s trust. Allman claimed his current financial circumstances had impacted his ability to fulfil his previous spousal support obligations.
In her own circumstances, King has reportedly made no efforts towards achieving financial independence after their separation in 2021, according to Allman’s filing. This has raised questions and concerns surrounding her future financial security, particularly since the couple had been granted a temporary spousal support arrangement, allowing for £5,300 monthly payments along with the couple’s shared vehicle and coverage of attorney fees.
King’s previous attempts to divorce Allman in 2021 were later dismissed, only to resurface in 2025 as matters became more financially complicated for Allman. Following a court order, the next hearing concerning the spousal support request is scheduled for July 17.
The legal troubles have escalated alongside reports of Allman’s mental health and addiction issues. Earlier this year, Cher sought conservatorship over her son, expressing deep concern for his wellbeing following several arrests. However, a judge denied her request to appoint a conservator for his estate, allowing her the option to file again in the future if necessary.
During the court proceedings, Cher’s attorney expressed the family’s commitment to ensuring Allman’s recovery and stability, stating, “She’s out there trying to help him, trying to make sure that he’s efficient… to be the person she knows and loves.” Cher and her family remain deeply saddened by the ongoing situation as they navigate the complexities of Allman’s health and financial struggles.
In light of these recent events, the relationship dynamics within the Allman family and King’s role in this situation present a delicate balance of love, concern, and personal wellbeing. As each party navigates their path ahead, King’s filing to withdraw her divorce request signals a potential shift in her relationship with Allman, indicative of a desire to maintain some form of connection despite the tumultuous circumstances.
As developments continue to unfold, many will be watching closely to see how these conflicting personal, legal, and financial challenges are managed moving forward, particularly in the context of mental health and familial support.
