Country singer Lainey Wilson embraced a playful side at this year’s Stagecoach Festival, taking to the event in disguise to mingle with fans. The festival, which took place on April 25, experienced a significant delay due to strong winds, necessitating an evacuation of the grounds. In a TikTok video shared two days after her performance, Wilson unveiled her secret mission at the festival, donning a glamorous black wig and sunglasses. She adopted a playful persona, introducing herself as “Britney West from Temecula,” while speaking in a light-hearted California accent. In a cheeky nod to Britney Spears, the singer quoted the pop icon’s famous phrase, “It’s Britney, bitch!” while embracing her new look.

While seated in her glamour chair, Wilson admitted that her character’s voice did not come naturally until she put on the wig. “I got it fried, dyed and laid to the side, baby,” she remarked, showcasing her sense of humour. Her team playfully commented that her impression was sounding “annoying,” adding to the fun atmosphere.
With her disguise fully complete, Wilson ventured into the festival crowd to interview attendees, confidently asserting, “They have absolutely no clue.” Amongst the festival-goers she spoke with, one young girl expressed her excitement about Wilson’s performance. In a playful twist, Wilson asked a group of girls if they knew any of her songs, only to receive a light-hearted jab aimed at her own persona, as one of the girls referred to the character by pointing at a nearby horse statue and jokingly calling Wilson a “huge horse’s ass.”
The interactions took a delightful turn when Wilson revealed her true identity to her interviewees. The surprise quickly turned into elation as fans erupted with joy, rushing to hug their country music idol. One delighted festival-goer exclaimed in disbelief, “No, it’s not, oh my gosh!”
Before signing off as “Britney West,” Wilson playfully declared into the microphone, “Stagecoach, bitch!” showcasing her spirited energy and enthusiasm for the festival.
Despite the wind-related delay during her performance, which caused a temporary evacuation, Wilson showed immense appreciation for her fans’ patience. “Thank you so much for sticking out the wind,” she expressed during her show. In a light-hearted tone, she suggested that festival-goers might have passed the time by enjoying some tequila in their cars, making light of the unexpected circumstances.
Wilson’s performance eventually went ahead, and she pumped up the crowd further by inviting surprise guests, including Riley Green and Little Big Town, to join her on stage after their scheduled sets had been cancelled due to the earlier evacuation.
Lainey Wilson’s playful antics at Stagecoach served to create unforgettable memories for attendees, highlighting her connection with fans in a way that transcended the typical performer-audience dynamic. With her unique approach and infectious energy, Wilson continues to affirm her place as a beloved figure in the country music scene. The combination of her witty disguise and charming personality left a lasting impression on festival-goers, ensuring that Stagecoach 2023 will be remembered for more than just music—but also for the joy and laughter shared amidst the chaos.
