In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, actress Anna Faris expressed her excitement about returning to the Scary Movie franchise after a staggering twenty years. The 49-year-old star, who first rose to fame portraying Cindy Campbell in the original films, described the experience as “healing” and a personal celebration.
Faris revealed her feelings of shock and delight when she received the news that she would be reprising her role for the sixth instalment of the series. “I couldn’t believe it,” she remarked, adding that she never imagined she would feel such enthusiasm about being part of Scary Movie once again. “It’s a little, I wish I had a better word, but healing,” said the actress. She noted the significance of reuniting with the original cast and crew, stating, “We got to be back together again.”
The iconic Wayans brothers, Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, are also set to return, marking their first appearances in the franchise since Scary Movie 2. Faris fondly recalled her relationship with the Wayans during the filming of previous films, saying, “It felt like the Wayans Brothers were casting me this time. And I got to thank them and feel like I wasn’t gonna get fired, you know?”

On March 31, she surprised fans by appearing as a Candy Crush mascot during a Los Angeles Clippers game held at the Intuit Dome. Dressed in a colourful costume as the game’s Bubblegum Troll, she embraced the playful spirit of the event.
“This was a fantastic opportunity. They asked me to join them as Bubblegum Troll, and so I am wearing a wild costume,” Faris explained. She expressed her enthusiasm about bringing joy to the audience, stating, “I get to essentially become part of a game that I love to play. I’m thrilled to bring joy and playfulness to a huge crowd of people.”
Faris’s love for Candy Crush, a game she enjoys during her son Jack’s sports practices, connects her to her inner child. She has also reflected on how her approach to acting has evolved significantly over the years. In her earlier film experiences, she felt quiet and intimidated, often retreating from interactions on set. “I was so quiet and so intimidated in the first two,” she recalled. Yet, she noted a marked improvement this time, feeling more at ease to engage in conversations and share banter, akin to a normal work environment.
As she embraces this newfound confidence, Faris shared her belief in the importance of the joy she brings to audiences through her work. “I feel so just lucky that I’ve been able to give joy to people.
