In a heartfelt Instagram post, Jørgensen recounted her ordeal following the crash, which took place shortly after she had returned from a delightful weekend in Montreal. She noted that while many might be familiar with the incident, she felt compelled to share her story and express profound gratitude towards the crew members who lost their lives, Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther. According to Jørgensen, their actions during the emergency were nothing short of heroic, as they made critical decisions to ensure the safety of the passengers.
“I owe my life to these two brave souls,” Jørgensen remarked, adding, “They made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live.” She emphasised her thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased pilots, highlighting the deep sense of loss felt by the passengers who survived.

In the immediate aftermath of the crash, Jørgensen described an overwhelming rush of adrenaline that masked her emotional response. However, as days progressed, she found herself grappling with the physical, mental, and emotional challenges stemming from the traumatic event. “The days after have been tough,” she confessed, illustrating the complex healing journey many survivors of such tragedies face.

Currently, Jørgensen is recuperating at home, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. Acknowledging the care extended to her during this difficult time, she expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of affection and support that has uplifted her spirits. “I will be taking time to heal,” she shared, recognising the importance of allowing oneself the necessary space to recover after such a life-altering experience.
Statistical reports indicate that there were 76 individuals on the Air Canada flight, including 72 passengers and four crew members. Among the total, 41 people were hospitalised; fortunately, the majority of them have since been released. This incident also involved two firefighters from the firetruck, who were responding to reports of an unusual odour in the cockpit of another aircraft at the time of the crash.
Aviation safety expert Anthony Brickhouse spoke to the media regarding the incident, underlining the gravity of the situation while also noting the remarkable circumstances that likely prevented a greater tragedy. He remarked on the striking images of the damaged aircraft and contrasted the fatalities with the potentially catastrophic consequences that could have ensued. “It’s sad that we had two fatalities, the captain and the first officer, but looking at those pictures, it’s miraculous that we didn’t have more,” he stated.
Jørgensen concluded her social media message by thanking her *Dancing with the Stars* family for their concern and care during this trying time, emphasising the importance of community and support in the healing process. As she continues to navigate the aftermath of the crash, her journey serves as a reminder of resilience in the face of adversity and the bond forged among those who experience trauma together.
As investigations into the events surrounding the crash will likely unfold, the focus remains on celebrating the lives of the fallen pilots, whose bravery stood as a testament to their commitment to the safety of others.
