Harry Jowsey, known for his appearance on the popular series “Dancing with the Stars” (DWTS), recently stirred conversation during an episode of the “Teen Beat with Danielle Fishel” podcast. The contestant from season 32 revealed that he has not maintained friendships with any of his fellow cast members, which contrasted sharply with Fishel’s reflections on her own DWTS journey.

Speaking candidly on the podcast, Jowsey, who also garnered fame from Netflix’s “Too Hot to Handle,” recounted his experience on the show, stating, “Everyone was really lovely, and then they weren’t.” Despite having enjoyed his time on the series, the 28-year-old expressed disappointment over the lack of communication from his co-stars following the competition.

Jowsey elaborated on his feelings, revealing that as time went on, many cast members ceased to respond to his messages or unfollowed him on social media. He recounted a particularly painful moment following the death of his father in December 2024, when he discovered that only one fellow cast member, Sasha Farber, reached out to him during his time of grief. This sentiment of betrayal not only highlights his disappointment but also underscores the reality of fleeting relationships within show business.
Danielle Fishel, a former contestant from season 34 of DWTS, reflected on her own contrasting experience during the same podcast. Fishel, known for her role in “Boy Meets World,” asserted that her time on the show resulted in genuine and lasting friendships. “I think my friendships with Pasha and Daniella Karagach are lifelong,” she remarked, suggesting a deep connection formed during her stint on the show.
The actress shared how participating in a tour following her season allowed her to bond further with her castmates, stating, “When you’re on the show, you really only get to spend a significant amount of time with your partner.” Fishel mentioned that the extended time with cast members like Ezra Sosa and Val Chmerkovskiy during the tour fostered more profound connections.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, she reflected on the effect of her DWTS journey on her family life, noting that her children had also formed friendships within the DWTS community. “Seeing my kids play with [Chmerkovskiy and Johnson’s son] Rome and Kiki was really rewarding,” she shared, emphasising the joy their interactions brought to her family.
The experience of participating in DWTS sparked a newfound passion for dance in Fishel. She admitted that following the season and the subsequent tour, she wanted dance to be an enduring aspect of her life. “I went into Dancing with the Stars having zero dance experience. I had never even taken a dance class,” she stated. The transformative experience has left her eager to incorporate dance into her daily routine.
Fishel’s decision to compete on DWTS was motivated by her desire to find joy in life post-cancer treatment. After receiving a diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), she became acutely aware of the need for more happiness in her life. “If this has shown me anything, it has shown me that I am not experiencing enough joy in my life,” she confessed, reflecting on the transformative impact the show had on her outlook.
Ultimately, Fishel’s perspective on her time in DWTS serves as a stark contrast to that of Jowsey, highlighting the varied experiences individuals can have on reality television. While some may encounter fleeting connections, others find lifelong friendships and passions that significantly enrich their lives. As discussions around camaraderie and support in competition continue, both Jowsey’s and Fishel’s accounts contribute valuable insights into the intricacies of personal relationships formed under the pressure of reality TV.
