Channing Tatum is stepping back into his role as Gambit as part of a quirky promotional campaign for Dunkin’. The campaign, titled “Munchkin Incursion,” is set to launch on November 4 and will feature an assortment of Marvel-themed drinks, donuts, and collectibles, coinciding with the upcoming release of the film *Avengers: Doomsday*.

The campaign brings together Tatum’s character Gambit, who first appeared in the 2024 film *Deadpool & Wolverine*, and the whimsical robot H.E.R.B.I.E. from the *Fantastic Four* franchise. Tatum expressed his delight at the comedic potential of the concept, stating, “Munchkin incursion is one of the funnier two words put together.” The actor is enthusiastic about the idea of his character existing outside the traditional realm of the X-Men universe.

In his recent interview, Tatum described his approach to portraying Gambit in this campaign. He mentioned the character’s flirtatious personality, saying, “I definitely flirted with H.E.R.B.I.E a little bit,” demonstrating Gambit’s laid-back charm and ability to connect with those around him, regardless of their form. The banter was aided by H.E.R.B.I.E., a robot known for its amusing antics and lack of discernible expression, which allowed Tatum to ad-lib his performance freely.
Reflecting on his personal experience during the filming, Tatum revealed that he indulged in plenty of Dunkin’ Munchkins, joking about his overindulgence in sweets. However, he also shared that his typical order leans more towards savory options. “I crush the hash browns at Dunkin’s,” he stated, recalling fond memories of taking his daughter, Everly, to the café after school when she was younger. Tatum’s affection for the brand is clear, relating how they would share hash browns and iced lattes on their way to her school.
The actor also shared insight into his long-standing passion for the character of Gambit, confessing that he has wanted to play the role since his childhood. “I literally was in Mississippi with my friends in the living room throwing cards at each other and watching the cartoon when I was little,” he recounted. This childhood dream has now come to fruition, allowing Tatum to bring his unique vision of the character to life on the big screen.
Tatum further explored what makes Gambit a compelling character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He remarked on the tendency of many heroes to adopt serious demeanours, contrasting them with the more carefree nature of Gambit. “My favourite characters are the ones that can be a little devil-may-care and have gallows humour,” he expressed. This chaotic charm adds depth to Gambit, who balances a morally ambiguous lifestyle with a fundamentally good heart.
Describing Gambit as “sort of a chaos demon,” Tatum explained that the character thrives in disorder. “The crazier it is, the more he likes it,” he said. Acknowledging Gambit’s roots as a thief, Tatum emphasised that despite the character’s questionable moral compass, his intentions are ultimately noble, which sets him apart from more traditional heroes.
As anticipation builds for *Avengers: Doomsday*, Tatum’s return as Gambit promises to infuse the narrative with his characteristic humour and charisma. The collaboration with Dunkin’ not only showcases the playful spirit of the Marvel franchise but also highlights Tatum’s knack for blending fun with promotional ventures. The forthcoming campaign is sure to excite fans both of Dunkin’ and the Marvel universe, as it cleverly intertwines the two iconic realms.
