Local authorities reported that deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office were called to respond to the accident on the 100 block of Flatrock Road. Investigations revealed that Meyer was driving a Honda ATV when he veered off the roadway. The ATV collided with a utility pole, resulting in Meyer being thrown from the vehicle. Despite being airlifted to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on October 26.

Meyer, a resident of Eatonton, had been attempting to rebuild his life following a difficult past. According to a GoFundMe campaign initiated by Anslee’s mother, Frances Bark, Meyer had faced numerous challenges and made several mistakes during the first 12 years of his daughter’s life. However, during his time in prison, he experienced a transformative change and committed to becoming a better father.
Bark recounted that since reuniting with Anslee three years ago, Meyer dedicated himself to strengthening their relationship. He became focused on being a reliable father and a mentor for his daughter as she navigated her teenage years. The bond between them grew stronger, becoming a central part of Meyer’s life, as he sought to make up for lost time.
Meyer was described as a charismatic, fiercely loyal, and humorous individual. His sudden passing has left a significant void in the lives of his family and friends. “Anslee is almost 15 years old,” Bark stated poignantly. “She should be looking forward to the years ahead with her dad beside her, making memories, celebrating milestones, and watching her grow into the young woman she is becoming. Instead, she faces a heartbreak no child should ever have to endure.”
In the wake of Meyer’s death, Bark expressed deep sorrow over the loss, remarking, “Her father’s life was taken far too soon, and no amount of money can replace the time they should have had together.” She highlighted that their story was one of resilience and redemption, noting that it was profoundly tragic that Meyer’s journey was cut short.
The GoFundMe campaign aims to alleviate the financial burdens associated with Meyer’s passing and to secure a stable future for Anslee. Bark explained that the funds raised would help cover funeral expenses while providing for her daughter during this challenging time.
Bark reflected on the bittersweet nature of Meyer’s life, describing it as a narrative of growth, affection, and the possibility of second chances. She expressed gratitude that Anslee was able to connect with the father he had longed to become, even as they experienced such a profound loss together.
As the community mourns the loss of Kenneth Reid Meyer, his family and friends are left to grapple with the emotional weight of his absence. The story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the moments spent with loved ones.
