Jana Kramer, the actress and country music star, has opened up about her choice to relocate from Los Angeles to Nashville, highlighting both personal and practical reasons for the move. Since settling permanently in Tennessee in 2019, Kramer has embraced the benefits that the Southern state offers, particularly for her family.

In a recent conversation with Fox News Digital, the 42-year-old discussed how the high cost of living in Los Angeles became a significant deterrent for her. Kramer, who initially moved to the City of Angels in search of new opportunities, found herself constrained by the city’s real estate prices. She recalled her experiences living in Studio City, where she struggled to find an affordable home that would suit her growing family. She noted, “We just couldn’t afford certain neighbourhoods in L.A.”
Affordability was just one aspect of Kramer’s decision; the desire to provide her children with a wholesome upbringing similar to her own childhood in Michigan also played a crucial role. The actress reminisced about her memories of playing in her neighbourhood, freely visiting friends’ houses and spending hours outdoors. “Just being outside 24/7 was a fond memory for me,” Kramer reflected.
Relocating to Tennessee offered a lifestyle that matched her visions for her children. “I love being in a neighbourhood and just seeing my kids on their bikes, going to their friends’ houses,” she said, expressing satisfaction with their new way of life. This new environment has evoked feelings of home for Kramer, which she cherishes deeply. “It makes me feel like home,” she stated, reinforcing the emotional significance of her new surroundings.
The calming nature of Tennessee has also had a profound effect on Kramer. She mentioned that upon arriving in the state, she senses an immediate relaxation. “For me, Tennessee has just always been a place that every time I land, my nervous system relaxes. It feels calm,” she shared, underscoring the peace that her new home brings.
Kramer’s journey back to Nashville was accompanied by significant personal changes. In an earlier interview with PEOPLE, she recounted the troubles she navigated during her previous marriage to Mike Caussin. After a series of challenges, including infidelity, the couple chose to relocate to Los Angeles in an effort to start anew. However, after experiencing several years of highs and lows, they decided to return to Nashville, believing it would help them recharge and realign their family life.
Despite their intentions, the marriage ended in April 2021, with Kramer citing “irreconcilable differences,” among other points, as reasons for the split. Now, she finds herself thriving in Nashville with her current husband, Allan Russell. The couple welcomed a son, Roman, in 2021 and became engaged in May 2023. They celebrated their marriage in July 2024 in a traditional ceremony in Scotland.
Kramer’s story resonates with many who seek stability and a nurturing environment for their families. Her move from the fast-paced life of Los Angeles to the tranquillity of Tennessee illustrates a significant shift in priorities, grounded by personal experience and a desire to create a blessed upbringing for her children.
As she reflects on her journey, Kramer remains optimistic about the future. Embracing her role as a mother and her renewed marriage, she illustrates how life can transform through decisive actions. Her experience serves as a testament to the potential for renewal that comes with choosing to prioritise family and well-being over the allure of fame and fortune.
