Rachael Ray confidently asserts that she has not encountered any signs of menopause, crediting her positive experience to the guidance of her healthcare providers. She noted, “I have no menopausal signs of any kind. My sister’s the same way. She’s 67 and never had them either.” With such personal insights, Ray highlights her fortunate physiology in dealing with this natural phase of life.

To support women navigating menopause, Ray emphasises the importance of a nutritious diet. She encourages others to consume a variety of colourful vegetables, which ensure they receive essential vitamins. While she acknowledges that she takes supplements, she believes a well-rounded diet could potentially remove the need for them. “You eat lots of colour in your diet, which means you’re getting lots of the right vitamins without the need of supplements,” she explained.

Ray mentioned that her husband, John Cusimano, is particularly dedicated to his health regimen, saying, “My husband takes more than I do. He goes into the bathroom for about 40 minutes to take all of his little pills and he has more face creams than I do.” This humorous addition underscores their shared commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with Cusimano, 59, ensuring his wellbeing through various supplements.
The couple, who tied the knot in Italy in 2005, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last year. Ray highlighted the significance of happiness and a vibrant diet in leading a fulfilling life. She mused, “Are you eating a colourful diet and are you happy? Do you try and get up with purpose every day? I think that helps everyone, male and female.”
Ray’s dedication to fresh produce is evident in her gardening efforts alongside Cusimano. They have cultivated a variety of seasonal vegetables in their home garden, with Ray stating, “We grow everything.” At this time of year, their garden is bustling with dark greens and a diverse selection of squash, including various orange types and zucchini.
In terms of domestic life, Ray described a typical evening with her husband, where they engage in simple yet meaningful routines. “I make food, he writes music, we watch news or movies, we fall asleep, he snores, I nudge him,” she recounted. It is this blend of shared interests and activities that contributes to their enjoyable and active lifestyle.
Rachael Ray has been hosting the Burger Bash event at the New York City Wine & Food Festival for nearly two decades, a highlight of the festival that attracts food lovers from across the region. This year, she was joined by comedian Bert Kreischer. “The energy is always so high and people come out in droves to just have fun, raise money for a good cause and stuff their faces with burgers,” she remarked, reflecting on the joyous atmosphere of the event.
Throughout its history, the New York City Wine & Food Festival has raised an impressive total of over £14.8 million for various charitable organisations. Ray’s involvement helps to support the Event Zero Foundation, which focuses on sustainable event practices. Furthermore, the festival collaborates with the James Beard Foundation to promote a vibrant and equitable restaurant industry, showcasing the culinary community’s commitment to social responsibility.
As Rachael Ray continues to inspire through her cooking and personal philosophies, her insights into menopause and healthy living offer valuable guidance to many women. By focusing on nutrition and happiness, she exemplifies a proactive approach to navigating life’s changes and encourages others to do the same.
