An American tourist from New Jersey has been left critically injured following a cliff-jumping accident on Italy’s picturesque Amalfi Coast. Jacob Fleig, 22, was enjoying a vacation with his fiancée, Olivia, when the unfortunate incident took place on 5 October. Currently, he is being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU) in a local hospital.

According to reports, Fleig sustained severe injuries after jumping from a significant height. His brother, Jimmy Dorner, provided updates on Fleig’s condition through a GoFundMe page he created to assist with medical expenses and transport back to the United States. Dorner indicated that Fleig has undergone multiple life-saving surgeries since the accident, highlighting the severity of his injuries.
The family is now focused on stabilising Fleig’s health, with the hope of facilitating his transfer back to the US for further treatment. “Currently, our main priority is getting him medically stable and strong enough to be transported back to America, where he can continue with future surgeries, therapy, and ongoing care,” Dorner wrote on the fundraising platform.
