Singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera is set to make a significant return to the music scene with his first album in nearly two decades, scheduled for release on 29 January 2027. Notably, Cabrera’s forthcoming record marks an exciting collaboration with his wife, WWE superstar Alexa Bliss.

The first single from the album, “I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts),” is currently available. This pop-punk track features Bliss’s vocals and draws inspiration from their personal exchanges, demonstrating a blend of humour and intimacy. The couple’s partnership in this creative endeavour has generated considerable interest among fans and followers.

Cabrera, now 44, had previously considered documenting his wife’s quirky sayings in a coffee table book. However, inspired by a social media trend of converting text messages into songs, he decided to transform these casual moments into musical lyrics. An example from the track includes Bliss humorously lamenting, “I’ve had to pee the entire flight / Do you want to split a Slim Jim?”
In preparation for her vocal debut, Bliss, aged 35, found herself more at ease in the studio following her appearance on ‘The Masked Singer’ in its ninth season. This experience helped her overcome previous stage fright. She recounted during a Zoom interview how a little tequila gave her the confidence to embrace the recording process.
The songwriting process for “I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts)” was sparked by a memorable conversation where Cabrera playfully labelled Bliss a “drama queen.” Her witty retort, “I’m not a drama queen. I’m just drunk,” made an impression on Cabrera, inspiring him to craft a song around the humorous exchange.
Produced by Nash Overstreet, the single also features prominent music artists such as Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup and Tommy Carlucci, adding to its appeal. Cabrera described the arrangement as a genuine song while incorporating Bliss’s spontaneous and amusing comments as lyrics, showcasing the charm of their dynamic.
Importantly, Cabrera has revealed that his wife played an instrumental role in motivating him to compile an album. After years of focusing primarily on EPs and singles, he realised he had amassed an abundance of material worthy of an official release. Cabrera has explicitly mentioned that the idea of an album hadn’t been a prominent consideration for him until Bliss’s encouragement reawakened his ambitions.
As he embarked on this musical journey, Cabrera cited influences from a range of artists, including Hot Chelle Rae and the Dave Matthews Band. He expressed excitement about experimenting with his sound while remaining true to his musical roots, stating, “It’s still me, but [I’m] also being a little adventurous.”
Cabrera’s return to the music industry comes after an extended hiatus, and fans are eagerly anticipating the release of his new album. The creative collaboration with Bliss not only highlights their personal relationship but also adds a unique dimension to Cabrera’s artistic expression.
The couple’s joint venture is successful in blending their worlds, offering a glimpse into their life together through music. With “I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts)” already available and the album on the horizon, fans can look forward to experiencing more of Cabrera’s evolution as an artist and the charming chemistry he shares with Bliss.
