Filming for the third season of the hit series *Landman* has officially resumed in Texas, marking a significant return for the cast and crew nearly a year after the second season premiered. Ali Larter, who stars as Angela Norris, recently shared her experiences from the first day of filming in an interview with *PEOPLE*.

Larter revealed that the excitement among the cast and crew was palpable, leading to a delay in filming due to “so many hugs” being exchanged. The actress, who is 50, described how the long break since they last portrayed their characters made her and her co-star, Michelle Randolph, eager to reconnect. “I called Michelle, I said, ‘Girl, we’ve got to put on some heels, our tight jeans. We need to go have some shots at the bar, and we’ve got to go find these girls again,’” she said, reflecting on how distant they felt from their characters, Angela and Ainsley.

During a recent appearance at Step Up’s 2026 Annual Inspiration Awards in Los Angeles, Larter expressed her excitement about being back in Texas, asserting that it plays a crucial role in immersing herself back into the rhythm of the show. She noted that the location is integral to the storyline, stating, “I just love Texas. That’s the character in the show,” which adds layers of authenticity to their performances.

The actress praised the emotional reunion with her colleagues, highlighting the strong bonds formed over the years. Larter remarked that it was reassuring to see familiar faces on set again, stating, “When I saw the crew the first day, it was just like we had to delay filming because there were so many hugs and how-are-yous. We have an extraordinary group of people.”
Filming in Texas also allows Larter to connect more deeply with her character, Angela. She elaborated on the unique culture of small-town Texas, with its values tied to family, faith, football, and the oil industry — all themes central to the series. “When you go into small-town Texas and you start to see it, and even the Friday Night Lights of it all in Midland with us in the Permian Basin — Texas is a state unto itself,” she explained.
Adding to the richness of her role is the writing of Taylor Sheridan, the show’s creator. Larter expressed admiration for Sheridan’s distinctive style, particularly in shaping her character. “I love the way Taylor writes her, because she’s so unique in how she speaks and all her little analogies,” she said, noting the complexities of Angela’s interactions with her daughter.
Angela’s bold personality and disregard for societal judgment resonate with Larter on a personal level. “It’s really fun to step back into her shoes because she doesn’t care what other people think about her,” Larter explained. This empowering aspect of the character allows the actress to explore themes of self-acceptance and resilience, stating, “That’s something that I think I deal with, that everyone deals with, is the judgment of others.”
As filming continues in Texas, Larter and the cast of *Landman* are set to bring new depth and excitement to this fan-favourite series. With seasons one and two currently available for streaming on Paramount+, viewers are sure to be eager for the upcoming season that promises to delve even further into the lives and struggles of its characters.
The combination of location, strong writing, and a passionate team makes Larter enthusiastic about what lies ahead for Angela and the community she represents. As the cast delves back into their roles, the anticipation for *Landman* season three continues to build among fans who have followed the series since its inception.
