In a heartwarming turn of events, a Maryland DoorDash delivery driver has received significant support following a car accident that left him without transportation. The driver, William Koroma, was involved in a collision while delivering an order when he experienced brake failure, resulting in a major crash. He contacted the customer, Glenn Ndibnu, to ask if they could retrieve the food from the site. Ndibnu documented the moment, expressing surprise that the driver had been involved in a serious accident. His video quickly went viral, triggering a wave of sympathy and support for Koroma.

Ndibnu later spoke with local news outlet FOX 5 DC, admitting that he felt conflicted about picking up the order after the accident, even though Koroma had encouraged him to do so. “I didn’t know my man got in a real… car accident,” Ndibnu remarked in his video as he approached the wreckage. His willingness to assist the driver resonated with many, helping to raise awareness about Koroma’s plight.

Following the accident, Koroma established a GoFundMe campaign. In his appeal, he shared details about the incident, explaining that the failure of his brakes led to the total loss of his vehicle and left him without a means of transport. He conveyed his gratitude for surviving the crash and for the fact that no one else was severely injured. However, he emphasised the financial strain the accident placed on him, as he was unable to fulfil his job duties or cover his essential expenses.
Koroma’s GoFundMe campaign highlighted the urgent need for reliable transportation, which is critical for his work as a delivery driver. “The support from this fundraiser will help me purchase another vehicle so I can have dependable transportation again,” he wrote, adding that it would also assist with his medical bills and other necessary costs.
Thanks to the outpouring of support from the community, the fundraiser collected more than $16,600. Koroma was subsequently able to buy a new car and return to his job, supporting not only himself but also his wife and two children. He expressed deep appreciation for the kindness shown by the donors and particularly for Ndibnu’s role in helping his situation gain attention.
In a follow-up interview, Koroma reflected on the incident, stating, “This happened for a reason. God has a plan for you. Calm down, don’t cry, just believe in God, you’re gonna be okay.” His resilience and faith appeared to inspire both friends and strangers alike, further solidifying the community’s backing.
A spokesperson for DoorDash expressed relief that Koroma emerged from the ordeal unharmed, commending Ndibnu for his empathy during an uncertain time. “It’s always heartwarming to see communities unite in support of one another,” the spokesperson remarked. The company highlighted that their drivers are covered by excess liability insurance and are required to maintain an up-to-date auto insurance policy, emphasizing their commitment to driver safety.
While the accident was undoubtedly a traumatic experience for Koroma, it has also led to an encouraging narrative of community support and human kindness. As he resumes his work, the experience serves as a reminder of the power of solidarity in times of crisis.
