On 3 October, a spectacular wedding unfolded at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City, as ABC News reporter Will Ganss married Jason Sparks, a former Broadway director and choreographer. The couple’s celebration was described as a blend of “Studio 54 meets Taylor Swift’s Midnights album,” distinguished by the presence of disco balls, Broadway performances, and numerous personal touches.

The couple exchanged vows in front of 155 friends and family members, a guest list that boasted several high-profile attendees, including Sara Haines from The View, various Good Morning America presenters, and musicians from the renowned group Pentatonix. Broadway performers were also in attendance, enriching the already vibrant atmosphere.

In a soulful reflection on their day, Ganss revealed, “The night was a celebration, yes, of the love Jason and I have for one another, but it was also a recognition of our families and chosen families’ love that has carried us this far.” He further explained that they aimed to create a celebration even more magical than they had envisioned, mirroring the romance found in their favourite Taylor Swift songs.
The choice of venue played a significant role in their vision. The couple, who have called New York City home for over 15 years, found the historic Angel Orensanz Foundation—a space replete with New York charm and known for hosting celebrity weddings, including that of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick in 1997. “We found this incredible hidden gem venue with a rich history of New York City weddings,” Sparks added.
The wedding décor was striking, featuring disco balls, candles, and mirrors that adeptly captured the enchanting vibe of the venue. Guests received personalised letters from the couple at their seats, while tables were uniquely assigned with themes inspired by iconic pop divas. Each table featured elements that paid tribute to their respective musical legends—Whitney Houston’s table hosted a miniature carriage referencing Cinderella, while Taylor Swift’s table included snakes and a typewriter.
The infusion of their individual professions into the wedding planning also shone through. Sparks, who has a rich background in live entertainment through his current role as an executive creative director and prior Broadway experience, helped orchestrate a splendid event. “It was an opportunity to bring together all the things and people we love,” Sparks stated.
The officiant of the ceremony was Kimberly Belflower, a Tony-nominated playwright and long-time friend of Ganss. Music played a significant role in the service as well, with Broadway performer Austin Colby delivering a poignant rendition of “It All Fades Away” from The Bridges of Madison County, accompanied by a string quartet.
For their vows, both Ganss and Sparks expressed their love and commitment meaningfully, putting into words their desire to support and uplift each other throughout their lives together. Following the ceremony, the couple invited their guests to enjoy a cocktail hour featuring a tarot reader and drinks named after their beloved dogs, Scout and Archie.
The evening proceeded with plenty of live entertainment. Guests were treated to musical performances, including a surprise ABBA medley orchestrated by the couple, featuring Ganss and friends lip-synching and dancing. Their first dance, a choreographed routine, was set to a custom mashup of seven Taylor Swift songs, showcasing their dedication to infusing personal elements into every aspect of the celebration.
A family-style dinner was served, featuring a variety of sumptuous dishes. The culinary experience culminated with the couple’s nod to Pittsburgh wedding traditions, which included a cookie table crafted by guests contributing homemade treats that celebrated Sparks’ roots.
Notably, there were two cakes created by renowned pastry chef Daniel Colonel, offering a sparkling disco-glam cake alongside flavours both decadent and rich, appealing to the tastes of their diverse guest list.
In the days surrounding their wedding, Ganss and Sparks hosted additional family gatherings to honour their union, including an intimate rooftop dinner and a subsequent Mass of blessing.
As they embark on their new life together, both Ganss and Sparks express their unwavering commitment and excitement about building a future family. The couple plans to honeymoon in Hawaii, cherishing the tranquil moments ahead. Sparks shares his joy, saying, “I can’t wait to tell everyone that this incredible man is my HUSBAND.” Ultimately, amidst the glamour and spectacle of their big day, they fondly treasure the peace and joy they find in each other’s company, signalling the beginning of a beautiful journey ahead.
