In a startling revelation involving a prominent figure from the popular show *Alaskan Bush People*, Gabe Brown has faced serious allegations of abuse from his wife, Raquell Brown. Recent court documents, highlighted by PEOPLE, detail Raquell’s claims of emotional and physical mistreatment throughout their marriage, along with feelings of being “forced into” the union.

Raquell’s affidavit, filed on 22 September, provides a narrative beginning from when the couple first connected on Instagram in December 2017 through Gabe’s sister, Rain. Their relationship progressed quickly; by February 2018, they were dating and later welcomed three children together. Raquell, who also has two children from a previous relationship, recounts her experiences in a troubling description of their early months together.

During the initial four months, Raquell claims to have suffered emotional and mental abuse from both Gabe and his sister. She alleges that they intentionally instigated fights and threatened breakups, contributing to a toxic environment. The couple relocated to Washington in the summer of 2018, where Raquell endured challenging living conditions, including residing in a travel trailer without electricity or water.

The situation reportedly escalated further when Raquell witnessed a traumatic incident during a family wedding trip in Idaho, where Gabe had a confrontation with Rain. She recalls being subjected to harsh insults and being threatened indirectly, which led to an increase in verbal, mental, and emotional abuse. Raquell later attempted to leave with her children but was prevented from doing so, as she was allegedly blocked by Gabe at the family property.
Despite her reluctance, Raquell married Gabe in 2019, citing feelings of being compelled to do so. She was led to believe that signing the marriage certificate would secure a larger wedding with her family present. Over time, she alleges that the manipulative tactics of Gabe and Rain resulted in her isolation, partly due to fears of their celebrity status.
Tragically, after the passing of Gabe’s father in early 2021, Raquell claims that the abuse intensified. She described incidents where Gabe would experience night terrors, during which he would physically assault her while she slept. Raquell recalled the distressing moments of being subjected to yelling and intimidation, not only aimed at her but also directed towards their children.
As the family show went on hiatus in 2022, Raquell noted a marked change in Gabe’s behaviour. He reportedly became increasingly aggressive, with allegations of shouting at her and their children in a manner that raised serious concerns, even in front of guests. This culminated in her request for a restraining order in April 2023, which was ultimately dismissed.
Seeking help, Raquell began attending therapy and was diagnosed with multiple mental health issues, including PTSD and anxiety. Despite a brief reconciliation in early 2024, she asserts that the abusive patterns resumed, with Gabe enforcing an authoritarian household dynamic that left her feeling overwhelmed. Her mental health deteriorated further amidst public speculation about their separation, leading her to consider drastic measures.
In a poignant statement, Raquell expressed feelings of helplessness, believing that leaving Gabe would result in losing custody of their children. She described her internal struggle and regret over contemplating suicide as an escape. Following her recovery in the hospital, she alleges that Gabe removed their children to Washington, leading to limited contact with them.
Raquell has recently filed for divorce, formalising their separation and stating that their marriage effectively ended in April 2026. Her account has brought urgent attention to the issues of domestic violence and the struggles many face when seeking to escape abusive relationships.
