A 24-year-old woman, Alexia Jocelyn Flores, was apprehended in connection with the alleged theft of two watches, one of which is valued at a staggering £28,500. The incident, which reportedly unfolded following a date arranged through the popular matchmaking platform Tinder, has attracted significant media attention.

The arrest took place on Wednesday, 23rd September, when Miami authorities charged Flores with second-degree grand theft. According to an arrest affidavit, the incident stemmed from a date that occurred on 19th September. The complainant, a man who met Flores on the app, claimed that she absconded with his possessions after spending the evening at his residence.
Following their dinner on the night of 19th September, the pair returned to his home at approximately 11:21 PM. The affidavit suggests they drank together for several hours, after which the man asked Flores to leave. He reported that Flores changed clothes in both the bedroom and bathroom, during which time he remained in the living room. Around 2:43 AM, he reportedly escorted her to the building’s elevator, believing she was leaving.
Upon returning to his apartment, the man discovered that two watches, including the luxury Rolex, had vanished from his bedside table. The affidavit noted that while the victim did not witness Flores taking the items, he quickly contacted the police to report the incident.
Investigators later examined the building’s surveillance footage, which revealed both Flores and the victim entering the apartment. However, the footage showed Flores exiting alone, raising suspicions about her involvement in the alleged theft.
Three days later, Miami police arrested Flores and conducted an interview at their headquarters. During the questioning, she denied any wrongdoing and claimed she had been drugged, leading to a blank period in her memory regarding the events of that night. Authorities found no supporting evidence for her drugging claim, which has been a critical part of her defence.
