Celia Perdios, a 45-year-old entrepreneur, has embarked on a new venture following a challenging period in her life that saw her walk away from a previous business after five years of dedication. In an interview, she shared her journey of reinvention and the positive outcomes that started to unfold shortly after she made the difficult decision to let go.

After years of pouring her efforts into her previous enterprise, Perdios faced the heart-wrenching choice of stepping away when her hopes for the venture were not realised. “I was devastated when I realised it wasn’t working out the way I’d hoped,” she admitted. However, within days of her decision, a fresh idea for a new project began to materialise, ushering in a sense of renewed hope and purpose.
Perdios’s difficult choice came during a broader period of uncertainty in her life. She recently opened up about her situation on Instagram, where she honestly discussed her status as an unmarried woman without children, currently jobless and avoiding a close examination of her finances. “It is not looking good,” she remarked, but she conveyed a sense of contentment in her life in Barcelona, surrounded by friends and family, and enthusiastic about her new business endeavour.
Embracing vulnerability, Perdios chose to document her experience publicly, describing the move as both “scary” and “uncomfortable.” Instead of waiting until she had achieved a polished success to share, she opted to connect with others during her journey through uncertainty. This led her to initiate a six-month experiment, targeting the creation of a community of 5,000 women by October 19.
When she launched this initiative on July 19 with just 148 followers, the response was overwhelming. To her delight, her audience quickly blossomed to over 4,000, bringing her substantially closer to her goal. Yet, the significance of her undertaking extends far beyond mere numbers. Many women reached out to her, resonating with her story and sharing their own experiences, which highlighted a commonality in navigating life’s various challenges.
As she engaged with her audience, Perdios began to realise a profound lesson: a fulfilling life does not necessarily have to mirror past expectations. With nearly two decades spent in the beauty and consumer brands sector, she was acutely aware of the disconnect between an outwardly successful career and her internal dissatisfaction. Reflecting on her time in New York, she recounted mornings spent in Central Park, trying to convince herself that “today is going to be a good day,” while suppressing a sense of unhappiness deep down.
The decision to move to Barcelona marked a pivotal shift for Perdios. Once again, she has chosen to embrace uncertainty rather than remain tethered to a situation simply due to prior investment. “I’ve stopped asking whether my life looks successful from the outside and started asking whether it actually feels right to me,” she explained.
While the stakes of starting anew remain high, especially in terms of finances, Perdios is optimistic about her future. She hopes that, after six months, she will have established a successful business and created a product that genuinely supports the women in her community. Nevertheless, she openly acknowledges that financial stress is a current concern.
Rather than waiting for definitive success to affirm her choices, Perdios views her experience as a testament to the importance of taking risks. She finds that some of life’s most enriching moments can emerge unexpectedly. “None of this was part of the plan, but it happened because I was willing to put myself out there and keep showing up for myself without knowing where it would lead,” she stated.
