Erin Napier, co-host of the popular HGTV show “Home Town,” has recently shared an amusing DIY solution she and her husband, Ben, devised for a wardrobe malady during a reshoot. On 17th September, Erin took to Instagram to reveal the creative approach she took when it was discovered that the original footage they shot had been compromised due to a faulty memory card.

The 41-year-old television presenter disclosed that she typically rents outfits for filming, which allows her to manage costs while maintaining a fresh wardrobe for her daily appearances. However, this strategy led to an unexpected challenge when she realised that the skort she wore for a previous segment was no longer in her possession, having been returned as part of her rental arrangement.

“I rent clothes since we film every day and it saves money to not buy tons of new clothes,” Erin explained in her post. “Which means I also send them back. Today we have a fiasco. We filmed something a month ago and the memory card got fried! So we have to reshoot it. It’s just the drone footage and it’s just from behind.”
Despite the setback, Erin was quick to praise her husband for his resourcefulness. The couple managed to recreate the look of the skort using a pair of trousers that Erin had not worn in years. In the accompanying video, Erin showcased her inventive solution by transforming green trousers into a makeshift skort.
“So, I took some pants that are that colour, and I cut the legs off,” Erin explained while displaying her handiwork. “Ben tucked the legs into the waistband to make it look like a skort. Think it’ll pass? I hope so. Maybe y’all won’t notice. But maybe you will and then you’ll laugh.”
The post resonated with fans, showcasing not only Erin’s creativity but also her light-hearted approach to the unexpected challenges of filming.
In addition to her wardrobe adventures, Erin has recently offered a glimpse into her life at home in Mississippi. On 8th April, she shared various photos and videos of her family’s countryside home, illustrating why she identifies as a “homebody.” One heartwarming snapshot captured their two daughters, Helen and Mae, splashing about in a pool as the sun set over their idyllic backyard.
“Why I am a homebody,” Erin titled the post, emphasizing her appreciation for family time in their serene surroundings. Other images in the sequence included an adorable white puppy and a blossoming bush, as well as a serene video showcasing the couple’s enchanting greenhouse and fenced garden bathed in the golden light of sunset.
The Napiers have endeared themselves to audiences through their long-running series “Home Town,” which follows the couple as they revamp houses in their beloved town of Laurel, Mississippi. Their dedication to preserving the charm of their community, while creating beautiful homes, has made them fan favourites.
Furthermore, Erin and Ben previously offered a sneak peek into their countryside abode to Southern Living magazine in 2025, sharing insights into their family life and creative projects.
Through a combination of resourcefulness and family values, Erin Napier continues to inspire her audience with her approachable attitude and inventive spirit, successfully blending her professional life with her home life in Mississippi. As she ventures through the ups and downs of filming and family, one thing is clear: laughter and ingenuity often go hand-in-hand.
