Speaking to PEOPLE at the festival, she explained, “I just wanted to hear what their experiences were like, and I was really moved.”

Qualley was further inspired by the strong camaraderie among nurses, particularly in facing the challenges brought about by the pandemic. “I was also really compelled by the friendships within the hospital and how the nurses supported each other during those really tragic times,” she shared. She explained that her goal is always to “get it right” and portray her characters as honestly as possible.
