Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-host of ‘The View’, recently shared positive updates about her seven-month-old son, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr., just four months after he underwent significant surgery and was treated in intensive care. Speaking with PEOPLE, she described her son’s current health status as “amazing”, conveying her relief and joy following a deeply concerning period earlier this year.

Farah Griffin, 37, revealed that while Justin is thriving, he will need to wear a helmet for a year as a precautionary measure. She expressed her appreciation for this added layer of safety, remarking, “I kind of appreciate [the helmet] as a first-time mum.” Despite not divulging the specifics surrounding the necessity for the helmet, she is buoyed by her son’s impressive recovery since the health scare he faced when he was only two months old.

In May, the television host disclosed that her son had to undergo an emergency surgery, prompting a stay in the ICU. At that time, she chose to keep details to herself, stating that discussing the matter brought her to tears. On an episode of ‘The View’s Behind the Table’ podcast, she mentioned only that it had been a challenging weekend spent in the hospital.

Reflecting on the surgery, Farah Griffin mentioned that the operation had yielded results greater than initially anticipated, with doctors complimenting Justin’s progress and development milestones. However, the experience undeniably left a mark on her, especially as a new mother. “It was the most terrifying thing of my life,” she recounted. The emotional toll of her child’s health threat was immense, making her acutely aware of her responsibilities as a parent.

Farah Griffin and her husband Justin Griffin welcomed their son into the world on February 10 after personally navigating a difficult path to parenthood, which included five rounds of IVF and surgery for endometriosis. She has been candid about her journey toward motherhood, which has underscored her resilience and tenacity.

Now, seven months later, she expressed that motherhood has exceeded her expectations. “I could have predicted the hard parts,” she said, “but could not have wrapped my heart and mind around how much I would love this child.” The depth of this love has transformed her reality, providing her with unmatched joy and a sense of purpose.

In recent times, Justin Jr. has been achieving milestones typical for his age. Farah Griffin humorously noted he is edging closer to crawling, correcting herself to clarify he is currently lifting himself. She enjoys watching her son grow, delighting in the small milestones that accompany his development.

Farah Griffin’s enthusiasm extends beyond just parenting; she is also relishing in dressing her son. Despite the traditional trends of dressing daughters in fashionable attire, she has embraced the challenge of outfitting Justin with style. “I’m going to dress up my son too. He’s going to know fashion,” she joked, showcasing her excitement for his autumn wardrobe, which includes a cute vest and moccasins.
