A Utah judge is poised to determine whether Tyler Robinson, a 23-year-old, will face trial for the alleged murder of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in 2025. The ruling is expected following closing arguments presented by both prosecution and defence teams at a probable cause hearing held on 1 September 2025.

The courtroom proceedings have stirred significant attention, given the notorious nature of the case, which took place during a Turning Point USA rally at Utah Valley University in Orem. Prosecutors assert that Robinson fired a single shot from a high-powered rifle, which struck Kirk, aged 31, fatally injuring him while he addressed the crowd.

During the hearing, Fourth District Judge Tony Graf presided over discussions regarding the coverage of the proceedings, ultimately ruling that both video and still photographic coverage would be permitted.
