During a press event in Westwood, California, on 31 August, Williams revealed the close-knit bond that developed amongst the cast, particularly during a memorable sleepover at Bullock’s home. This invitation to Bullock’s residence allowed the cast, including Williams, Kidman, and Joey King, to unwind after a busy filming schedule. According to Williams, the gathering included a soak in Bullock’s hot tub, where they mingled and indulged in snacks from her fridge.

“It was just so lovely,” Williams reminisced, explaining how the invitation felt like a natural extension of their camaraderie formed on set. “Sandra invited us over towards the end of the shoot. We just ended up chatting for hours on the sofa, drinking tea and enjoying each other’s company.” Interestingly, their late-night bonding stretched into their work schedule, with Williams quipping they had to head to set a bit later the next day.
The actress fondly recalled her initial experience watching the original Practical Magic, stating she could not remember the specifics of when she first viewed it alongside her sister. However, the opportunity to revisit the classic with her mother during the audition process brought new insights, as both found themselves appreciating the film from different perspectives. Williams reflected, “I feel like I got to appreciate it much more as an adult, and my mum loved it too. It was a really special moment for us.”
The original Practical Magic, released in 1998, featured Bullock and Kidman as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens—witches bound by a family curse that complicates their romantic pursuits. As nearly three decades have passed since its release, Bullock and Kidman return to their roles in the sequel, with Williams portraying Antonia Owens, the daughter of Sally. Joining her is Joey King, who plays her sister, Kylie.
In addition to bonding experiences off-screen, Williams has been paying homage to Bullock’s influential fashion while promoting the film. Throughout the press tour, the 29-year-old actress has recreated several of Bullock’s iconic looks, celebrating the star’s contributions to film and fashion alike. Expressing her adoration, Williams stated, “She has had so many iconic looks over the years, so I wanted to reflect that in my wardrobe choices during the tour.”
Williams’ tribute to Bullock seems to have garnered approval from the veteran star. On18 August, Bullock took to Instagram to showcase side-by-side images of Williams modelling her vintage looks. Accompanying the images, Bullock praised Williams’ fashion tributes, encouraging her to raid her closet anytime. This tangible support further highlights the nurturing atmosphere that has permeated the film’s production.
As the release date for Practical Magic 2 approaches, excitement amongst fans is palpable. The combination of nostalgia from the original film and the fresh, familial dynamics introduced in the sequel is expected to delight audiences. With Williams, Bullock, and Kidman back on screen, the film promises to weave together themes of love, sisterhood, and empowerment.
As anticipation builds for this enchanting cinematic experience, viewers will soon have the opportunity to witness the next chapter of the Owens sisters’ magical journey. Practical Magic 2 will officially be released in theatres across the UK on 10 September, marking a significant moment for both fans of the original film and new audiences alike.
