Evan Dixon, a former attorney from Michigan, has been sentenced to a prison term of 18 to 40 years after pleading no contest to charges related to the fatal shooting of his friend, Theron Duncan. The tragic incident occurred on 11 November 2023, at the Douglass House Saloon in Houghton, where both men had been drinking.

Reports indicate that the two had been engaged in a disagreement concerning Dixon’s dog, Hazel. Shortly before the shooting, Duncan had left the bar briefly to take the dog to his nearby apartment. Upon his return, he made a light-hearted remark about holding the dog for ransom, playfully gesturing with his fingers like a gun at his own head.
