Chase Stokes, known for his role in the hit Netflix series “Outer Banks,” has spoken out regarding persistent plastic surgery rumours that have circulated about him. In a recent episode of the podcast “I’ve Never Said This Before,” the 33-year-old actor addressed the topic directly, sharing his thoughts on the claims during an exclusive clip released ahead of the show’s launch on September 1.

Host Tommy DiDario prompted Stokes to discuss the “most ridiculous assumption” about himself that he had encountered online. The actor wasted no time in tackling the plastic surgery speculation that has surrounded him, referring to the assertions made by so-called “legitimate doctors” as humorous. He recalled seeing claims that he had undergone an upper blepharoplasty—a surgical procedure performed on the eyelids—and had enhancements done to his lips.

Stokes was unequivocal in his denial, asserting, “I will say it, I’ve never had any work done on my face.” He expressed amusement at the details some individuals speculate about, suggesting that those making such claims should perhaps reconsider their professional qualifications. His candid remarks shed light on a growing concern among entertainers regarding the misinformation spread on social media platforms.
In the past, Stokes admitted to engaging with these rumours. However, he has since adopted a more reserved approach, opting not to respond to false assertions publicly. “I used to be a little more online with that stuff, but I’ve realised to just shut up,” he remarked, reflecting on his decision to avoid giving additional attention to such claims. Stokes acknowledged the challenge of managing public perception while protecting his mental wellbeing.
Stokes’ comments come on the heels of “Outer Banks” concluding its run after five seasons on August 20. The final season picked up directly from the dramatic cliffhanger of Season 4, where the character JJ, played by Rudy Pankow, faced a personal tragedy involving his father. The show’s storyline has captivated audiences, featuring The Pogues on a quest to recover the fabled Blue Crown, an artefact believed to possess mystical powers.
In addition to addressing the plastic surgery rumours, Stokes has recently opened up about his personal journey and struggles following the series. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that portraying his character has been profoundly impactful, stating, “I needed to go find myself… I’ve been John B more than I’ve been Chase.” He reflected on the challenges he faced during filming, revealing that he had experienced significant health issues that led him to seek intensive therapy.
Stokes disclosed that he was grappling with alarming health concerns, including liver and kidney dysfunction. He described how he had undergone frequent blood tests and discovered he had “alarmingly low” testosterone levels for someone of his age. This prompted him to explore treatment options, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy—a non-invasive technique designed to stimulate brain cells using magnetic pulses, which has been shown to help with various mental health issues.
Highlighting the importance of self-care, Stokes noted, “Unfortunately, we’ve seen great people leave this earth too soon for just continuing to go [on], and I have a lot to live for.” He emphasised the need to prioritise his health and pursue his aspirations, acknowledging that taking the time to focus on his wellbeing was crucial for his future.
As Chase Stokes moves forward from “Outer Banks,” his reflections on both the personal and professional challenges he has encountered serve not only as a reminder of the pressures faced by public figures but also underscore the necessity of mental and physical health in the fast-paced world of entertainment.
