Seventeen years after its original release, “Practical Magic” fans are set to be enchanted once more with the upcoming sequel, “Practical Magic 2.” Dianne Wiest, who reprises her role as Aunt Jet in the film, joined fellow returning stars Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, and Stockard Channing for the London premiere on 26 August.
Wiest expressed her enthusiasm for the project, particularly highlighting a scene that held special significance for her. “For me, it was when we were all at the table for my birthday lunch,” the 78-year-old actress shared. She described the moment as heartwarming, emphasising the joy of being reunited with her co-stars. “We were all together, and we’re celebrating. It was a great scene,” she remarked.
In the original 1998 film, Wiest portrayed the warm-hearted and nurturing Bridget “Jet” Owens, captivating audiences with her performance alongside a young cast. At the same premiere, Nicole Kidman reflected on her favourite moments while filming. “Jumping off the roof together, all of us, was kind of crazy,” she commented, recalling the escapades they shared on set. Kidman fondly remembered the late-night dance scenes, saying, “Dancing when it was 3 a.m. and freezing cold, but making it look warm” was a standout experience.
The actress also light-heartedly mentioned her ability to lift Bullock despite her claims of being “solid.” “I can literally pick her up; I have muscles,” she joked, adding that Bullock is surprisingly light. Such camaraderie among the cast made a significant impression on Kidman, who mentioned that, although filming can often be emotionally taxing, this particular experience was different.
