Former “Power Rangers” star Amy Jo Johnson shared her gratitude on social media after a harrowing experience aboard Donnie Wahlberg’s private jet, which skidded off the runway during take-off in Las Vegas. The incident transpired around 11 a.m. on Sunday, 15 October, while the aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 50, was preparing for departure with eight passengers on board.

The actress, who is currently 56 years old, was in Nevada to support Wahlberg as he performed with his band, New Kids on the Block, in the group’s inaugural Las Vegas residency, “The Right Stuff,” at Dolby Live in Park MGM. Following a successful concert that seemed to go perfectly, the ordeal that unfolded moments later must have come as a shocking turn of events.

Expressing her relief, Johnson posted on Instagram the day after the flight, stating, “It was an eventful weekend, that’s for sure.” She added, “Watching the incredible @donniewahlberg and his mates crush it in their last show in Vegas. And then surviving a very hairy plane situation. But we did. And I’m grateful and very happy to be alive!”
Wahlberg, aged 57, took to Instagram himself shortly after the event, recounting the tense moments that unfolded as the jet began to take off. “We were taking off and didn’t get up in the air and ran out of runway,” he explained. The actor expressed immense gratitude towards the pilots, crediting their skills with preserving the safety of all on board. “Those pilots saved our lives. And God covered us… We just finished praying, and I looked out the window and said, we are not getting up in the air today. But we’re safe and thankful and all is well,” he remarked in a video captured shortly after the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft was destined for Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada from Harry Reid International Airport. The airport issued a statement following the jet’s excursion off the runway, confirming that inspections were carried out and that some runways had to be closed temporarily.
Despite the distressing situation, both Wahlberg and Johnson emphasised their gratitude for the outcome. Wahlberg continued his post with a sense of relief, stating, “Thankful to God, of course, and to our incredible pilots who did an amazing job of keeping us safe and avoiding a serious disaster. The airplane did take some lumps — but we did not.”
In the aftermath of the scary episode, Johnson shared images on her Instagram account depicting her and her companions before and after the flight. This post garnered an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues alike. One fan expressed, “My heart SANK! So glad you’re all okay 🩵”. David Yost, Johnson’s former co-star from “Power Rangers,” added, “Absolutely insane….so happy you all are ok!!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼”.
Following the incident, Harry Reid International Airport announced that the runway ground stop, which was enforced at 12:50 p.m. due to the incident, would be lifted by 2:30 p.m. The airport apologised to passengers for any delays incurred by the emergency, ensuring the public that safety remained the top priority.
The fortunate escape created a buzz on social media, with many fans relieved to hear of Johnson and Wahlberg’s close call. Their ability to share the experience has not only highlighted the importance of aviation safety but also showcased the strength of community support in times of distress.
As both entertainers reflect on this unexpected brush with danger, they remain thankful for their safe return to land, looking ahead to future experiences both on stage and off.
