In an intriguing experiment to challenge traditional diets, music producer Benny Blanco recently announced the results of his five-day pizza diet. The 38-year-old artist, known for his remarkable success in the music industry, embarked on this unique journey to demonstrate that weight loss is achievable while seemingly indulging in one’s favourite food.

Blanco first detailed his audacious plan in a TikTok video on August 21, stating, “I’m going to eat one pizza a day and lose weight.” The pizza he chose for this challenge was a large thin-crust option from Domino’s. In a humorous moment, he presented a small slice, perplexed at the idea of it sustaining him for an entire day, captioning the clip, “Like, how is this supposed to last me a whole day? This is one-sixteenth of everything I can eat today.”
At the outset of his challenge, Blanco weighed in at 152.2 pounds. He crafted this diet with a clear purpose: to show that it is possible to lose weight while eating almost anything. His commitment to the experiment included bringing his pizza along on a dinner date with his wife, singer Selena Gomez, highlighting his determination to stick to his plan, even in social settings.
However, Blanco faced several hurdles during the five days. There were moments of frustration, including a mishap when he accidentally dropped a slice of pizza and an incident where someone at his studio consumed a significant portion of his pizza stash. By the third day, the novelty of his diet began to wear off, with Blanco admitting, “I’m tired of pizza. I hate my life.”
As the challenge progressed, he found himself grappling with a sense of identity. By day five, Blanco reflected, “I don’t even remember who I am as a human being. Like, what was life before pizza?” Despite the struggles, he claimed to feel energised, exclaiming, “I feel f–king good,” followed by a sprint to illustrate his newfound zeal.
The thin-crust pizza from Domino’s typically contains less than 900 calories each day, which is considerably lower than the recommended daily intake of 2,400 calories for men of Blanco’s age. Health professionals have raised concerns regarding such extreme dietary practices. Registered dietitian nutritionist Marina Rabkin commented on the risks, indicating that consuming too few calories can prevent individuals from obtaining essential nutrients, labelling this approach as unhealthy.
On the final day of his pizza challenge, Blanco stepped on the scales to reveal his success: “You see that: 147.5. I just lost 4.7 pounds in five days eating only pizza.” He exuberantly declared, “Nothing matters. You can do whatever you want,” embodying a carefree attitude towards the food restrictions typically associated with dieting.
In an accompanying shout-out to his upcoming memoir, titled “F–k Failure,” which is set for release on September 15, Blanco reflected on the weight loss experience. He passionately encouraged fans to seize the moment, stating, “F–k everything. Get my book right now, guys.”
Benny Blanco’s five-day pizza diet has garnered significant attention, raising questions about the balance between dietary habits, health, and weight management. While his experiment showcased immediate results, it remains vital for individuals contemplating similar approaches to consider the long-term health implications of extreme dietary restrictions.
