As the second season of *1000-Lb. Roomies* approaches, the dynamic duo of Jasmine “Jaz” Wallace and Nesha Harris reflect on their journey towards improved health and independence. In an exclusive interview, the pair opened up about personal obstacles they have faced recently, while also highlighting the strength of their unbreakable bond.

Jaz, 42, experienced a life-changing event last season when she underwent bariatric surgery, a pivotal moment in her weight-loss journey. However, shortly after the procedure, she suffered a series of falls that led to significant mobility loss. Now relying on a motorised chair for movement, Jaz is determined to regain her independence. “I’m doing my sit-to-stand exercises and my weight-shifting exercises, but my knees aren’t cooperating as I had hoped,” she remarked with a hint of humour.

The effects of her surgery have been emotionally taxing for Jaz. She candidly expressed her disappointment at how her recovery did not progress as she initially envisioned. “I keep wondering if I should have gone through with the surgery. Could I have avoided this situation?” she said, revealing the depth of her frustration and regret.
Nesha, 38, who has been a pillar of support throughout Jaz’s journey, admitted that watching her friend struggle has been difficult. “It’s heart-wrenching to witness the changes. One day Jaz is walking, and the next she can’t stand. It’s been a traumatic experience for both of us,” she stated, emphasising the emotional toll it has taken on their friendship.
Despite the challenges, Jaz remains hopeful, crediting her support system for her resilience. “I have Nesha, our friends, and family behind me. This is going to be a long road, but it’s one I’m committed to travelling,” she stated positively.
Integral to Jaz’s recovery is her surgeon, Dr. Sarvenaz Nouri. Jaz appreciates the candid yet compassionate guidance she receives during her check-ups. “I know some doctors are blunt, but Dr. Nouri genuinely cares. She motivates me while ensuring that I stay on track,” Jaz explained.
In contrast, Nesha shared a light-hearted take on the tough love from Dr. Nouri, confessing her struggles with maintaining a food-centric lifestyle. “I love food, and sometimes I get a bit annoyed at the doctor’s reminders. But I understand that she wants the best for me,” Nesha shared, reflecting her own health journey as she incorporates more activity into her routine, from yoga to healthier eating habits.
While Jaz and Nesha are on individual paths to improved health, they emphasise the importance of mutual accountability. “We are like sisters. Sometimes we disagree and face our ups and downs, but we always lift each other when one of us is down,” Jaz noted. Nesha echoed this sentiment, stating that they routinely check each other’s choices. “We understand that we are human. There are days when we slip up, but we’re here to support each other through it all,” she added.
The pair are united in their belief that they may never fit traditional beauty standards, but they are learning how to embrace their love for food while pursuing a healthier lifestyle. “We’ll never be slim, but we’re focusing on making better choices,” Jaz said.
Looking ahead to the new season, Jaz and Nesha both anticipate drama and humour, but they hope viewers will appreciate their unwavering friendship. “We’re both Scorpios, so it can get intense sometimes,” Nesha laughed. “But I can’t imagine going through this journey without Jaz by my side.”
The much-awaited season two of *1000-Lb. Roomies* is set to air on Tuesday, 25 August at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. As they prepare for the show’s return, Jaz and Nesha are eager to share their evolving story and the lessons learned along the way.
