**New Faces Join Season 2 of ‘Heated Rivalry’ Hockey Romance Series**

The much-anticipated second season of ‘Heated Rivalry,’ a popular hockey romance series, is set to introduce a slew of new characters, expanding on the well-established world of the Game Changers novels by Rachel Reid. With principal filming anticipated to commence soon, the series is slated for an April 2027 release.

Following the successful debut of its first season on HBO Max in November 2025, the show quickly gained popularity, leading to its renewal for a second season just a month later. The series stars Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov, two hockey players whose love story unfolds against the backdrop of their on-ice rivalry.

The new season will adapt elements from Reid’s sixth novel in the series, ‘The Long Game,’ continuing to explore the intricate and authentic queer relationship between its central characters. I wanted to dig into it.”

Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie are joining the cast as Harris Dover and Troy Barrett, respectively. Their characters feature prominently in Reid’s fifth book, ‘Role Model.’ Smith, who will portray the socially adept Harris, has shared his enthusiasm for his new role. In an Instagram post, he stated, “I am honoured to play a character you all care about deeply, and I promise I will take good care of him.”

Gillespie, assuming the role of Troy Barrett, echoes this sentiment. He brings a sense of heart and depth that Tierney and his producing partner Brendan Brady believe will resonate with viewers. Their casting is part of a broader vision to create a powerful connection not only between the characters but also with the audience.

Adding to the ensemble cast, the season will feature Emily Hampshire, known for her role in ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ who will portray Vanessa, a close friend of a band member in Reid’s third novel ‘Tough Guy.’ Hampshire expressed her excitement on social media, stating her joy at joining the production team of Tierney, describing it as “everything.”

Edvin Ryding will take on the character of Luca Haas, a rookie player for the Ottawa Centaurs, featured as a significant supporting character in both ‘The Long Game’ and ‘Role Model.’ The Swedish actor, noted for his performance in ‘Young Royals,’ has expressed his eagerness about joining the show, sharing his excitement through an Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Robert Naylor joins the cast as Wyatt Hayes, the goalie for the Ottawa Centaurs team, lending even greater depth to the overarching narrative revolving around hockey culture and personal relationships.

Sabrina Jalees and Priyanka are also among those set to feature in this season, although their specific roles have yet to be clarified. Their involvement signifies a continued effort by the show’s creators to embrace diversity and authenticity in storytelling, which has become a hallmark of Reid’s novels.
