In an announcement that celebrates corporate responsibility, Delta Air Lines has claimed the top spot on this year’s list. Recognised for its unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive environment for its global workforce and contributing to its local community in Georgia, Delta serves approximately 200 million passengers each year across six continents.

One of the airline’s standout initiatives is its partnership with Junior Achievement, resulting in the opening of the Discovery Center of Clayton County in Morrow, Georgia, close to its Atlanta headquarters. This centre is vital in providing educational opportunities for more than 12,000 students annually, featuring the Delta Dream Accelerator. This interactive programme helps middle and high school students to uncover their strengths and develop essential workplace skills.

Beyond its investment in youth education, Delta integrates numerous charitable initiatives into its corporate culture. Events such as the annual “Jet Drag,” which raises funds for cancer research, and an employee-driven care fund are testaments to the airline’s commitment to community service.
Allison Ausband, Delta’s chief people officer, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “This acknowledgment is a powerful reflection of the people who make Delta what it is. More than 100,000 Delta employees show up every day, committed to caring for each other, our customers, and our communities.” She further emphasised that the collective efforts of the workforce contribute to what they call the Delta Difference.
The selection process for the Companies That Care list involved analysing over 1.3 million employee responses, representing companies with a workforce of more than 7.3 million individuals. This thorough evaluation by PEOPLE and Great Place to Work ensures that the list genuinely reflects how organisations care for their stakeholders, including employees and the wider community.
Furthermore, Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work, remarked on the pressures faced by employees today. He asserted that the best workplaces are those that identify and address the needs of their workers. “When employees feel that sense of care, they do incredible things,” he added, reaffirming the importance of supportive workplace cultures.
Alongside Delta, the list celebrates other noteworthy companies, such as Wegmans Food Markets, Camden Property Trust, Publix Super Markets, Salesforce, and Hilton. These firms exemplify what it truly means to lead with purpose and make a tangible difference in the lives of their employees and the communities they serve.
The entire list can be accessed online, offering insights into the initiatives that define each company’s commitment to social responsibility and employee welfare. The latest issue of PEOPLE magazine, featuring this year’s Companies That Care, will be available on newsstands from Friday.
In a world increasingly searching for corporate integrity and responsibility, this collaboration between PEOPLE and Great Place to Work provides a valuable benchmark for evaluating the social impact of companies. As the landscape of work continues to evolve, recognising those who prioritise care offers hope and inspiration for both current and future work environments.
