On July 29, McGee was aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Omaha, Nebraska, to Phoenix, Arizona, when he abruptly collapsed. He has since shared that it was only after waking up in a hospital that he learned he had experienced a heart attack in mid-air. “There are no words you can really say; I mean, I was gone,” he explained in an interview.
