The Owasso Police Department confirmed the tragic outcome on 25 July, revealing that both Gilson and Duffey were found deceased with gunshot wounds in Gilson’s residence. In the weeks leading up to her death, Gilson had made serious allegations against Duffey, accusing him of being a “pedophile” and filing an emergency protective order to keep him at a distance. Court records document that she sought this order on 10 June, after police had uncovered claims that Duffey had inappropriately touched a juvenile female basketball player under his supervision.

This recent case involving Duffey, a member of the Osage Indian Tribe, has garnered significant attention, not only due to the allegations of child molestation but also because of the underlying issues of domestic violence it presents. Following the investigation into the accusations, the Owasso Police Department classified the allegations as “Lewd Molestation of a Minor,” which have been forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for further evaluation.
In an official statement, Captain Nick Boatman of the Owasso Police Department outlined the disturbing findings. He confirmed that the alleged misconduct occurred during a team event and was witnessed by another coach who intervened and subsequently contacted the juvenile’s parent. This alarming incident unfolded within what is termed “Indian Country,” making it a federal offence under the Major Crimes Act.
Gilson’s efforts to protect herself from Duffey were documented over the years. In addition to the recent protective order, she had previously sought similar measures in 2021, citing threats made by Duffey, including claims that he possessed a firearm and had displayed suicidal tendencies. Sadly, those earlier petitions were dismissed after Gilson reportedly failed to attend the hearing.
Just days before her death, Gilson expressed her fears publicly through social media platforms. In a TikTok video, she referred in distressful terms to her husband’s alleged actions, indicating awareness of the severe implications of her situation. This post led her audience to speculate about a potential documentary regarding her experiences, highlighting the trepidation she felt about her impending separation from Duffey.
The tragic circumstances surrounding Gilson’s death have brought to the forefront critical discussions regarding domestic violence and the protection of children from potential abuse. Authorities have reiterated the importance of taking such allegations seriously, urging anyone who suspects child abuse to act immediately.
