Sophia Bush has opened up about her evolving perspectives on relationships and personal growth during a recent appearance on the podcast *Call Her Daddy*. The actress, best known for her role in *One Tree Hill*, shared insights from her forthcoming memoir, *And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress*, shedding light on her brief marriage to former co-star Chad Michael Murray.

In her conversation with host Alex Cooper, Bush reflected on her past marriage to Murray, who she was wed to for just five months in 2005. “I wrote about some of the friendships I made with women who I think the world would probably think I would never speak to, that I really cherish,” she stated. Notably, Bush mentioned that she has formed friendships with some of the women Murray allegedly cheated on her with, indicating a significant shift in her sentiment.

Bush expressed her admiration for these women, saying, “And frankly, when I look at the landscape, I’m like badass, badass, badass, badass.” She acknowledged the attractiveness and qualities of both her and the women involved, quipping, “You did have great taste, bro, and like, congrats, you crushed. I’m like, ‘I get it.’” This display of solidarity marks a turning point in her reflections on their shared history.
The actress attributes her ability to foster these new friendships to personal growth, explaining that they have all matured and transformed significantly since their past experiences. “We’ve all evolved into completely different people from who we were [then],” Bush explained, demonstrating a commendable level of maturity and forgiveness.
Bush also touched on her divorce from Murray, which was finalised in December 2006, after a relationship that she described as a “difficult and unfortunate situation” at the time. Despite the challenges, the actress has come to a place of acceptance and wishes Murray well. “No harm, no foul. Wish you well. Praise the adult you are. Hope it’s mutual,” she stated, indicating that she has moved on from her past.
When discussing the topic of their relationship, Bush revealed that she had received warnings from co-star Hilarie Burton about Murray prior to dating him. Referring to Burton’s advice, she noted, “It was good advice, and I just didn’t have the wherewithal or the experience.” This candid admission highlights the often tumultuous nature of youthful romance and the lessons learned along the way.
In her memoir, Bush makes a notable exception to her previous discretion regarding her marriage to Murray. She explained to Cooper that avoiding the subject was futile due to the public nature of their relationship. “When I said I don’t want to write about it at all, my editor was like, ‘I hate to break it to you. Google exists,’” she recounted, showing a humorous acceptance of the realities of living in the public eye.
Despite their past, both Bush and Murray have moved on to new chapters in their lives. Murray has been married to Sarah Roemer since 2013, and they share three children together. In contrast, Bush married Grant Hughes in 2022, though their union was short-lived, leading to a divorce just over a year later. As of 2025, she tied the knot with former professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris.
In response to earlier allegations from his ex-girlfriend Erin Foster about infidelity, Murray has refrained from delving into the past, stating, “It’s not one of those things that I want to go down the road of because there’s just never a winner.” His focus seems to be on personal growth and maintaining a positive outlook on his current circumstances.
Bush’s memoir is set to be released on 27 October and is now available for preorder. Through her reflections, Bush not only revisits her youth but also highlights themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the importance of personal evolution. With this new insight into her life, she hopes to encourage others to find strength in their journeys, no matter how messy the past may be.
