Central BID Birmingham has spearheaded preparations for Ozzy Day, collaborating with local organisations including OPUS (Outdoor Places Unusual Spaces), Birmingham City Council, Birmingham New Street, and Westside BID. The initiative aims to celebrate Osbourne’s impact on the music world and reinforce his connection to the city.

This unique occasion is set to draw fans to iconic locations that hold significance in Osbourne’s story, such as the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Bullring, and Martineau Place. The event promises more than just a nostalgic journey through the musician’s milestones; it also invites attendees to engage in a vibrant celebration of the city’s cultural heritage.
Among the highlights, Bostin Brass, the brass band that performed during Osbourne’s funeral procession, will stage a series of pop-up performances throughout the day. Additionally, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) will provide a live performance at the Bullring, further enhancing the musical experience honouring the iconic rocker.
Central BID Birmingham Chair, Sam Watson, remarked, “Ozzy Day is a fantastic example of Birmingham working together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.” He emphasised the unity of businesses, cultural organisations, and community spaces in creating an engaging city-wide experience. This collaborative effort aims not only to remember Osbourne but also to encourage local pride and tourism.
Councillor Deborah Harries, Birmingham City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, echoed these sentiments, highlighting Osbourne’s status as one of the city’s most prominent cultural figures. “We continue to honour his legacy here in the city, where his journey began,” Harries stated. She expressed her enthusiasm for partnerships celebrating Osbourne’s influence on music and the pride he took in his hometown.
The significance of the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, now internationally recognised symbols of the band’s history, was noted by Luisa Huggins, Media and Communications Manager at Westside BID. “We’re proud to be part of a day that celebrates Ozzy’s extraordinary legacy and the city they always called home,” she said. Huggins encouraged fans and visitors to explore Birmingham in connection with the celebration and experience its rich cultural fabric.
As part of the festivities, a mechanical bull, named Ozzy in tribute to the star during the 2022 Commonwealth Games, will also be adorned for the day. This whimsical feature is expected to add a unique touch to the celebrations, making it an additional draw for fans of all ages.
Osbourne’s legacy was highlighted again when Black Sabbath was awarded the Freedom of the City of Birmingham on June 30, 2025, underscoring the band’s lasting influence in the region. Councillor Harries commented on the significance of anniversary events as opportunities for residents and visitors to honour this legacy while showcasing Birmingham’s creative and cultural character.
In what is likely to be an emotional commemoration, Ozzy Day aims to blend celebration with reflection. As fans gather to celebrate a man whose music has transcended generations, they will also be paying homage to the attachment many have to his hometown.
The reaction to Osbourne’s passing continues to resonate deeply. Recently, Sharon Osbourne shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, commemorating what would have been their 46th wedding anniversary. “Today would have been our 46th wedding anniversary. Instead, it is a celebration of a love that even death could not diminish,” she wrote, underlining the enduring bond that remains.
