Authorities are intensifying their search for Angelica Brophy, a 44-year-old mother of two from Oceanside, California, who has been missing for over a week. Brophy was last seen on Monday, July 6, when she visited the local Harrah’s Casino before heading to Palomar Mountain State Park, a popular hiking spot approximately 15 miles away.

Brophy was expected to pick up her daughter from summer camp that afternoon. However, when she failed to arrive, her husband reported her missing to the Oceanside Police Department later that evening, around 9:30 PM. Concern mounted as family members noted her absence, especially considering her commitment to her children.
Initial efforts to locate Brophy included attempts to track her mobile phone. Unfortunately, by July 8, the phone appeared to be either switched off or had run out of battery, leaving investigators without a key tool in the search. The following day, her car was discovered in a parking lot at Palomar Mountain State Park, but there was no sign of Brophy.

In the days that followed the discovery of her vehicle, search and rescue teams scoured the park in search of Brophy. Their efforts spanned four days with no leads to her whereabouts. California State Parks divers even searched a local pond over the weekend, with divers from the San Diego Harbor Police Department joining the efforts on Monday, July 13.
Family members are understandably distressed but are attempting to maintain hope. Martin Fabregas, one of Brophy’s brothers, conveyed a sense of cautious optimism, while another sibling, Manny Fabregas, described the family as being in a “state of limbo” as they await news. Speaking to local news outlets, Brophy’s sister-in-law, Lisa Fabregas, expressed her deep concern, describing her as a “wonderful, thoughtful” mother who would do anything for her children.
Lisa added a personal touch, recalling how Brophy’s lively spirit shines through her singing, claiming, “She is funny and kooky, and will sing at the top of her lungs and will not have one note in tune, but she does not care. She loves life and we really just need her back.” Family members have been proactive in their search efforts, putting up missing person posters in the locality and launching a Facebook page titled “Bring Angelica Home” to gather information and support. A community effort is planned for Tuesday to search the areas around Palomar.

While police have been active in their search, Oceanside Police Captain Nick Nunez has stated that there is currently no suspicion of foul play in Brophy’s disappearance. Investigators are interviewing casino security to determine if Brophy was in the company of anyone during her visit or if her activities at the casino might offer any clues to her disappearance.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance, urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4900. As the search continues, hope remains that Brophy will be found safe and reunited with her family.
