A 20-year-old man from Florida, Daniel Niemiec, has been charged in connection with a series of alleged domestic violence incidents involving his ex-girlfriend, culminating in a bizarre and disturbing act involving a backpack filled with human waste. He faces charges of domestic violence strangulation and two counts of domestic violence battery.

According to police reports, the alleged events began when Niemiec’s ex-partner visited his residence in Coral Springs on June 2. The woman claimed that after they had consensual intercourse, Niemiec became aggressive and began to slap her. Despite her pleas for him to stop, the physical confrontation allegedly escalated, marking a troubling pattern of behaviour.
A few weeks later, on June 30, the situation reportedly turned even more severe. During an argument with Niemiec, the woman alleged that he strangled her, causing her to struggle for air until he finally released his grip. Eyewitness statements in the affidavit suggest that Niemiec laughed throughout the incident, adding to the distressing nature of her experience.
Following the alleged assault, the woman sought refuge with a friend in Margate, Florida. However, the following day, she returned to Niemiec’s apartment to collect her belongings. Upon her arrival, she encountered Niemiec in the parking lot, holding her backpack — a moment that would take an alarming turn.
As detailed in the affidavit, Niemiec had purportedly soiled the backpack with both faeces and urine and had filled it with ketchup, hot sauce, and other unidentified fluids. Shockingly, he then allegedly dumped the contents of the bag over his ex-girlfriend, which marked a deeply unsettling act of humiliation and aggression.
Authorities apprehended Niemiec shortly after the incident. During police questioning, he reportedly admitted to slapping his ex-girlfriend, claiming that it was an experiment intended to be “something new” that had spiralled out of control. Furthermore, he acknowledged his actions of strangulation, attributing them to personal anger management issues.
Regarding the grotesque act with the backpack, Niemiec allegedly stated that he felt it was a form of retribution for what he believed was her infidelity. He described the act as throwing the bag without recalling the ultimate landing of its contents, leading to further statements that highlighted his troubling rationale.
Currently, Niemiec has been released from custody after posting a bond set at $4,000. Court records indicate that he is subject to an electronic monitoring system and has been ordered to have no contact with his ex-girlfriend while the case moves forward. However, as of now, it appears unclear whether he has entered a plea or engaged legal representation.
The case sheds light on the serious issue of domestic violence, which often manifests in horrific and unpredictable ways. Support services are available for those affected by domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline offers confidential assistance 24/7 for individuals seeking help.
As communities remain vigilant regarding the signs of domestic violence, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of such issues and the critical need for continued outreach and support for victims. The legal proceedings against Niemiec will undoubtedly be followed closely as more details emerge regarding the case.
