Josh Duhamel’s Encino Home Secures Buyer in Less Than Two Weeks

Josh Duhamel, the 53-year-old actor known for his roles in films such as “Safe Haven,” has successfully placed his Encino property under contract following just a fortnight on the market. The home, which carries a price tag of £3 million, has attracted considerable interest, leading to a swift agreement.
The property is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence featuring over 3,300 square feet of living space that offers striking views of the surrounding mountains. Duhamel first listed the Encino home at the end of June, and as of July 8, it was marked as under contract. The listing is being handled by Thomas Atamian from Coldwell Banker Realty.
This sale comes as Duhamel has expressed a desire to relocate full-time to his so-called “doomsday cabin” in Minnesota. The star, originally from North Dakota, seems eager to embrace a lifestyle that prioritises family and the tranquillity of nature over the hustle and bustle of city life.
Having purchased the Encino home for £2.65 million in 2017, Duhamel has used the property as a family base on the West Coast. Inside the home, an expansive great room connects seamlessly to kitchen, living, and dining areas, perfect for entertaining guests. The kitchen is equipped with a spacious centre island, custom cabinetry, and top-of-the-range appliances.
The primary suite has been recently renovated and features two walk-in closets, direct access to the backyard, and what has been described as a “spa-inspired bathroom” complete with a dual-sink vanity, a soaking tub, and a walk-in shower. The outdoor area also has ample amenities for gatherings, including a swimming pool, hot tub, private sauna, and a built-in BBQ area designed for outdoor dining.
In a recent interview with Extra TV, Duhamel spoke about his family’s current lifestyle, indicating that they mostly reside in North Dakota but frequently travel to their cabin across the border in Minnesota. Duhamel and his wife, Audra Mari, welcomed their daughter, Rocca de Leon, in May. He also has two sons, Axl, aged 12, and Shepherd, aged 2, from a previous marriage to singer Fergie.
Duhamel relayed that while the colder climate in North Dakota may not be ideal year-round, he feels an intrinsic connection to the rustic lifestyle it provides. He shared how his children benefit from the natural environment, “They’re just exploring. They’re swimming. They’re jet skiing. They’re skiing. It’s a pretty special place,” he noted.
In an interview with PEOPLE last summer, Duhamel further elaborated on his decision to steer away from the chaotic life in Los Angeles for a more grounded existence in the Midwest. He indicated it was essential for him to return to his roots and engage in hands-on work, stating, “I had this calling to go and really do things with my hands again — fix things, make things and just do the basic things that we take for granted.”
Moreover, Duhamel detailed his long-term project in North Dakota, where he acquired an empty parcel of land about half an hour outside Fargo more than a decade ago. Since then, he has diligently built a rustic cabin, which he fondly refers to as his “doomsday cabin.” Initially lacking electricity and running water, he has worked tirelessly to ensure the property is now fully operational.
“We’re at a place now where it feels done. It’s completely livable now,” Duhamel said, reflecting on his journey to create a space that fits his vision for a quieter life dedicated to family and nature.
As Duhamel transitions away from Los Angeles, his Encino home stands testament to the star’s life changes, emphasising a shift towards a more familial and self-sufficient lifestyle. The sale of the property is not just a financial transaction but a reflection of the actor’s deeper desires for a return to simplicity amidst the complexities of modern life.
