Kevin, Benny’s K9 handler, expressed profound admiration for his four-legged partner. He stated that his bond with Benny developed from their very first encounter, explaining how he wanted to work with Benny among all the other dogs available. Kevin initially joined Disneyland as a standard security officer, but his aspirations to become a K9 handler allowed the duo to be matched perfectly.
Throughout their time together, Kevin and Benny have monitored various security areas, ensuring both guests and Cast Members remain safe throughout the resort. Benny’s friendly disposition has made him a well-loved member of the team. “He’s a great dog,” Kevin reflected, adding that Benny is remarkably non-aggressive and maintains a friendly aura. His warm personality has certainly set him apart as a cherished member of Disneyland’s security.
In celebration of Benny’s retirement, an endearing farewell party was organised in his honour, attended by numerous security Cast Members. The event featured Benny experiencing his first hot dog, surrounded by tennis balls and his favourite red chew toy. Kevin shared Benny’s joyful spirit, saying, “He’s always smiling, he’s always happy. When he’s in a great mood, he gets you in a great mood.”
The love and appreciation for Benny were evident as he was celebrated by his colleagues. Disney Parks expressed their gratitude on Instagram noting that every magical moment during Benny’s tenure was made safer thanks to him. With the heartwarming message, they said, “Thank you, Benny, for 49 (dog) years of service.”
