The couple revealed their pregnancy on June 21, igniting excitement among their followers. Just a few weeks later, they took to their YouTube platform on July 1 to reflect on their fertility experiences, highlighting the emotional and physical hurdles they encountered during the conception process.
Jamison, 32, and Sydnor, 30, first crossed paths in 2017 at a rehabilitation facility in Virginia, where Charisma was employed as an inpatient therapist and Cole was recuperating from a diving accident that left him paralysed. Their relationship blossomed over the years, leading to their marriage in November 2020.
In their recent video, the pair delved into their attempts at in vitro fertilisation (IVF), revealing that while Jamison’s hormone levels appeared to be normal, their efforts to conceive were met with significant obstacles. Their initial embryo transfer resulted in a pregnancy that unfortunately ended in loss at around six to seven weeks. Subsequent transfers were unsuccessful, prompting the couple to reassess their approach to starting a family.
The emotional weight of their struggle was evident, as Jamison shared that they were left with no embryos following numerous failed transfers. She expressed her reluctance to undergo another retrieval process, recalling it as the most painful experience of her life. With hindsight, Jamison suspects her struggles were exacerbated by undiagnosed endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, affecting many women worldwide.
Jamison described the discomfort she faced during the egg retrieval process, noting the inflammation and severe pain that followed. She emphasised the impact of her endometriosis, which likely complicated her fertility journey as it resulted in heightened estrogen levels in her body.
As they confronted the reality that biological parenthood might not be a viable option for them, Sydnor and Jamison expanded their family through fostering, relocating to Minneapolis in the process. In their new city, Jamison sought a second opinion regarding her reproductive health, which ultimately led to a diagnosis of endometriosis.
Following the diagnosis, she underwent elective surgery aimed at addressing the condition. This medical intervention was a turning point for them, as it opened up new possibilities for conceiving naturally. “It changed the game for us, and getting pregnant naturally became an option yet again,” Jamison explained.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the couple celebrated their joyful news, sharing a touching video of them holding hands as they walked down a hill while the music of Ruelle’s “I Get to Love You” played in the background.
