**Mother of Four Faces Stage 4 Brain Cancer Following Breast Cancer Battle**

A 34-year-old mother from Northamptonshire, Amy Carroll, is confronting an harrowing challenge as she has been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, just months after celebrating the news of her unexpected pregnancy. Carroll, a tattoo model and a devoted mother of four, had previously fought a successful battle against breast cancer in 2021.
Carroll discovered her breast cancer during a cosmetic surgery procedure aimed at improving her appearance after breastfeeding her third son. “I had my boys quite young and my boobs looked different, so I went and had breast surgery,” Carroll explained. It was during this procedure that she felt the small lump that would soon change her life forever, leading to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and several surgeries.
Reflecting on the challenges of her earlier treatment, Carroll acknowledged the silver lining within her ordeal, stating, “I’m past the point of caring what my boobs look like now, but that cosmetic surgery saved my life as I wouldn’t have known I had cancer then.”
After successfully overcoming breast cancer, Carroll believed she was in the clear. She had been informed that due to the intensity of her chemotherapy, more children would not be possible. However, a delightful surprise awaited her in December 2025 when she discovered she was pregnant with a fourth child, a “miracle” baby. The pregnancy was celebrated further by the anticipation of the baby’s arrival coinciding with Carroll’s own birthday.
However, the joy was short-lived. Shortly after the pregnancy was confirmed, Carroll began experiencing health complications and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which is a temporary condition that occurs during pregnancy. While it is relatively common, Carroll was unfamiliar with it, having not dealt with such issues in her previous pregnancies.
Her health took a sudden turn for the worse one morning in June. While lying in bed, Carroll suffered a seizure, prompting an urgent visit to the hospital for a CT scan and MRI. Within two days, the devastating diagnosis of brain cancer emerged, revealing the presence of seven tumours. Her family was left reeling from the news, but as is often the case in life-changing situations, time was of the essence. Doctors advised that she needed to deliver her baby immediately to start her treatment.
An emergency C-section was scheduled for 6 July, just weeks ahead of her due date. “The doctors have been very reassuring, saying babies at this age should recover well,” Carroll shared, mentioning her excitement to meet her son, who is to be named Arlo Atlas Sirus.
However, the expected treatment comes with profound emotional challenges. Carroll anticipates that as she embarks on chemotherapy and radiation, her ability to care for her newborn will be limited. “When I start treatment, I won’t be able to be with the baby all the time, which is going to break me,” she expressed with poignant honesty. “When I do have chemotherapy, I won’t be able to touch him at all, which will be so hard.”
The looming prospect of treatment has sparked fears about potential side effects. Carroll is understandably apprehensive, reflecting on the various complications that can arise post-surgery, which may include memory loss, difficulties with balance, or even loss of speech. “I just don’t want to forget my life and my kids; I just don’t want to lose that,” she lamented, showcasing the anguish of a mother fighting to remain present for her children.
Despite the daunting journey ahead, Carroll remains hopeful for a favourable outcome and expresses gratitude for the twist of fate that led to her pregnancy, which inadvertently alerted her to her serious health issue. “This pregnancy saved my life because I didn’t realise I was ill,” she remarked, reflecting on the challenging path she has traversed.
As Carroll navigates these turbulent waters, the support of her partner and their three sons is vital. With the forthcoming challenges of chemotherapy on the horizon, she is determined to confront each day as it comes, resolving to cherish each moment with her family.
