Doering’s battle with brain cancer had been ongoing for nearly a decade. He was hospitalised in May when his health took a turn, following the discovery of a third brain tumour. In a heartfelt tribute on social media, TNA expressed their sorrow: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Joe Doering. A commanding in-ring performer and a wonderful person, he will never be forgotten. We offer our deepest condolences to his fans, friends, and family.”
The wrestler’s family confirmed he passed away at 9:13 am on 26 June. His sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, set up a verified GoFundMe campaign to assist with the financial strains associated with his treatment, which included radiation and chemotherapy. The fundraiser also aimed to support Doering’s family during this challenging time. Banh noted that the progression of Doering’s illness following brain surgery in 2022 had severely impacted his mobility, requiring him to use a wheelchair and walker for daily activities.

Despite these challenges, Banh described Doering as “determined, focused, and most of all— in good spirits” throughout his treatment. Unfortunately, his condition worsened in the months leading up to his passing. In a GoFundMe update from May, it was disclosed that he had been transported to the hospital due to complications related to his brain tumour, prompting doctors to halt chemotherapy and switch to steroid treatment.
In a subsequent update on 22 June, his family announced that he was being moved to hospice care, a change aimed at providing comfort during his final days. Following the announcement of his death, the family shared a poignant message, urging supporters to keep Doering’s loved ones in their thoughts. “Thank you all for your love, support, and kindness—it has meant so much to us. We love you, Joe. You will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed,” they said.

Joe Doering began his professional wrestling career in 2004, making notable contributions to TNA and All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). He is particularly remembered for winning the AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, a significant achievement in his career. However, in 2016, he was forced to step away from wrestling after receiving his brain tumour diagnosis.
The announcement of Doering’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fellow wrestlers and fans alike. Adam Pearce, a retired WWE star, shared his condolences on Instagram, reflecting on Doering’s impact. “Godspeed, Joe Doering,” he wrote. “I didn’t have the good fortune of being around you, but things my friends have said make me wish I had. My heart goes out to his friends, family, and everyone affected. Rest well, sir. ❤️🙏.”
Doering’s legacy as a skilled performer and beloved figure in the wrestling community is set to endure despite his untimely departure. Many fans and colleagues will undoubtedly remember him not only for his in-ring accomplishments but also for the warmth and positivity he brought to those around him. As the wrestling world mourns the loss of Joe Doering, his contributions and the joy he brought to fans will surely be cherished for years to come.
