A man from Los Angeles, identified as Ruben Fregosojuarez, has been arrested in Mexico after he allegedly committed the murder of his wife and abducted their five-year-old daughter. The arrest came during the weekend, after Fregosojuarez reportedly fled the United States with the child.

The case gained widespread attention when an Amber alert was issued for the girl, Daleza Fregoso, on May 24. Law enforcement officials indicated that she was last seen with her father early in the morning at approximately 4 a.m. on the day of the alert, which prompted a rapid response from local authorities.

Daleza was subsequently located safely in the custody of Mexican officials, confirming that she was unharmed amidst the alarming circumstances. Reports indicate that she is currently being looked after by authorities while arrangements are made for her to be reunited with her family in the United States.
Fregosojuarez, 40 years of age, was captured on surveillance footage shortly after the Amber alert was issued. The footage showed him in a parking garage in San Ysidro, California, near the border with Mexico, dragging a suitcase while accompanied by Daleza. This evidence raised concerns for her welfare and contributed to the swift action taken by law enforcement.
Authorities believe that Fregosojuarez is responsible for the murder of his wife, 36-year-old Marisol Garcia Palacios. Her body was discovered by police during a welfare check at their home on May 25, just a day after Daleza was reported missing. The Los Angeles Police Department has been leading the investigation, supported by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
In response to this shocking crime, District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman expressed the profound impact of such violence on the community, highlighting the trauma faced by the young girl amid these tragic events. He stated, “The killing of a mother and the abduction of a young child is the kind of violence that shocks the entire community.”
Fregosojuarez now faces serious charges, including one count of murder and a misdemeanor count of child abuse under circumstances not amounting to great bodily injury or death. If convicted, he could be sentenced to serve between 25 years to life in state prison.
The U.S. embassy is reportedly in the process of facilitating Fregosojuarez’s extradition back to the United States to answer the charges against him. Legal officials are determined to pursue justice for both Garcia Palacios and her daughter, in the hopes of providing some resolution to an otherwise tragic situation.
In light of the case, the authorities are also coordinating efforts to ensure that Daleza’s family is able to transport her safely back to the U.S. There is a significant emphasis on providing the necessary support for the child, who has endured undoubtedly traumatic experiences during the past weeks.
As the investigation continues, both local and federal law enforcement agencies are committed to uncovering the full details surrounding the case, as well as ensuring that Fregosojuarez faces the full ramifications of his alleged actions. The community remains on alert as updates about the situation are awaited, and the tragic circumstances surrounding the case continue to evoke a strong response from both officials and the public.
