**Actor Steve Burton Accuses Ex-wife of Hindering Custody Arrangements**

Steve Burton, the well-known actor from the long-running soap opera *General Hospital*, has publicly raised concerns about his ex-wife Sheree Gustin allegedly obstructing his access to their 11-year-old daughter, Brooklyn. The pair, who were married for over two decades, formally concluded their divorce in December 2023 but continue to navigate the complexities of co-parenting three children.
According to legal documents acquired by PEOPLE, Burton claims that Gustin, aged 49, is engaging in what he describes as “blatant parental alienation.” He accuses her of creating unnecessary barriers that prevent him from exercising his court-ordered custody rights. Specifically, he has asserted that Gustin has repeatedly denied his wife, Michelle Lundstrom, the opportunity to pick up Brooklyn for visitation, thereby hindering their family’s time together.
The actor’s filings allege that Gustin is not only obstructing essential parental interactions but is also dismissive of Michelle’s role in Brooklyn’s life. Burton contends that Gustin refuses to recognise Michelle as his wife or acknowledge Michelle’s children as Brooklyn’s stepsisters, despite claims that Brooklyn shares a close bond with them.
In addition, Burton claims that Gustin has not cooperated in facilitating visits to his new residence in Tennessee since relocating from California. The actor is evidently frustrated with the current arrangements and is seeking legal recourse to ensure that his relationship with Brooklyn can thrive.
In response, Gustin has firmly rejected the allegations of alienation, asserting that she prioritises Brooklyn’s well-being above all else. She explained in her court filings that a parenting schedule had previously been established and that she is supportive of Brooklyn seeing her father. However, Gustin expressed concern about her daughter spending excessive time away from home, indicating a preference for visits not to exceed three weeks at a time.
Gustin further emphasised her willingness to be flexible and noted that it was Burton’s decision to move out of state. If Burton wished to increase his time with his daughter beyond the current schedule, she suggested that he could travel to California for visits.
Despite the tension surrounding their co-parenting, both parties share two other children: 22-year-old daughter Makena and 20-year-old son Jack. As they navigate the pressures of shared custody, both parents appear committed to ensuring that their children’s needs are met.
Burton’s marriage to Gustin began in 1999, following their initial meeting on the set of *General Hospital*. Their lengthy partnership drew to a close with the finalisation of their divorce in late 2023. Following their separation, Burton began a new chapter in his life with Lundstrom, whom he married in May 2025 after a whirlwind engagement.
As part of the divorce settlement, Burton is obligated to provide $12,500 in monthly child support for their younger children, which will decrease to $10,000 after April 2024. The agreement also stipulated that both parties would waive spousal support for any unforeseen circumstances in the future. Gustin, however, received a retroactive support payment of $50,000 as part of the arrangement.
While the custodial disputes continue, it is clear that both Burton and Gustin are attempting to prioritise their children’s welfare amidst the challenges of their new reality.
