The city’s statement highlighted the severe risks associated with rip currents that can quickly drag swimmers away from the shore. These sentiments were echoed by the National Weather Service, which predicted swells capable of generating surf conditions of 4 to 7 feet, with sets potentially reaching 9 feet along south-facing beaches.
