Arden Cho, known for her role in the animated film “Kpop Demon Hunters,” has recently shared her experiences with skincare and her personal journey leading up to her upcoming wedding. In a candid interview with PEOPLE, the actress and Olay ambassador discussed how her approach to skincare transformed significantly as she entered her 40s.

Reflecting on her past attitudes towards skincare, Cho admitted that she once attributed her clear complexion to good genes and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “Up until my early 30s, I was able to rely on just genetics,” she confessed. However, she soon found herself facing the realities of aging as fine lines and tired appearances crept in. “Once I started seeing tiny wrinkles and crow’s feet, I began to stress out,” she explained.

The shift in her skincare philosophy coincided with her collaboration with Olay. Cho shared how the brand’s range of products allowed her to establish an effective skincare routine that fits her busy lifestyle. For someone frequently travelling, the convenience of Olay’s multi-functional products, like their Cleansing Melts and Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, has proved invaluable. “Having a product that covers multiple steps saves so much time and energy,” she noted.
Cho’s global presence has been amplified by the success of “Kpop Demon Hunters,” which has resonated strongly within fan communities since its release in June 2025. The film, inspired by Korean culture, has garnered critical acclaim, earning accolades such as Best Animated Feature at both the Oscars and the Golden Globes. Consequently, the film’s popularity has kept Cho busy with international promotions and appearances.
In addition to her professional life, performance identity remains a significant theme for Cho, who grew up as a Korean-American in Texas. She often grappled with questions about her background and representation in Hollywood. “I felt this void for a very long time, where I wasn’t ‘Asian enough’ for Hollywood roles, but in Korea, I was seen as too American,” she reflected. This has made her participation in “Kpop Demon Hunters” exceptionally meaningful, allowing her to embrace and promote aspects of Korean culture that have had a profound impact on her.
Cho’s co-stars, including EJAE, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo, have also contributed to the project’s diverse representation. She praised their collaboration, remarking, “I hope audiences notice that all six of us are different in style and appearance, and that’s our culture—we’re all different.” This commitment to showcasing diverse Asian identities is a central theme of the film, which she believes is essential to changing perceptions about Asian representation in mainstream media.
Looking ahead, Cho is embarking on a new chapter in her personal life, having recently announced her engagement. The anticipation of her wedding has prompted her to reevaluate her approach to beauty treatments that are often emphasised during such milestones. “Initially, I felt pressure to undergo extensive beauty procedures,” Cho admitted. Yet, she soon realised that embracing her natural self was more aligned with her values. “I just want to be happy and relaxed during this season of my life,” she said.
As she prepares for her wedding, Cho remains committed to her skincare regimen while finding joy in simple routines rather than overwhelming beauty procedures. She expressed her enthusiasm for Olay’s effective products, but also joked about her friends always taking them whenever they visit, highlighting her enjoyment of sharing what works for her.
Ultimately, Cho’s journey reflects a broader understanding of beauty as it relates to self-acceptance and authenticity. “I feel like perfection is so boring,” she stated. “What’s the point of becoming someone else for just one day?” Her reflections on aging, identity, and love resonate as she embarks on this new chapter of her life, emphasising the importance of staying true to oneself amidst societal pressures.
