In a recent interview, Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong discussed the complexities of moving forward without their co-star, particularly in light of their forthcoming documentary, “Doc Meets World,” which chronicles their journeys during a nationwide tour of their rewatch podcast, “Pod Meets World.”
Ben Savage’s reported distancing from his former castmates began around 2020, culminating in his decision to not participate in the podcast series. According to Fishel, Friedle, and Strong, they had hoped to include him in their project, reflecting a deep-seated desire to reconnect. “It’s challenging. I often feel the urge to reach out. It feels like I’m shouting into the void, but I’m not giving up on him. I remain hopeful that one day he will return to our lives, and when he does, there will be much to discuss.”
The trio’s sentiments were echoed by Fishel, who, at 45, expressed her nostalgia for the friendship that once flourished. She reflected on her previous interactions with Savage, particularly concerning his new role as a father. “Imagining him as a dad is something I cherish. I know he has welcomed a baby girl into his life and is now a husband. I often think about what milestones he’s experiencing, and it saddens me to think that I am out of the loop,” she said.

Savage and Fishel, who co-starred together in the spin-off series “Girl Meets World” from 2014 to 2017, shared a bond that included family interactions and personal life updates. “I understand that not everyone wants to revisit their past or confront uncomfortable truths,” she explained. “It’s perfectly valid for someone to choose not to engage with those aspects. While we have been eager to dive deep into our experiences, it’s important to respect his boundaries.” Fishel emphasised that her feelings aren’t borne out of anger or resentment but are rooted in understanding and respect for Savage’s choices.
